Rem 700 Hard To Close Bolt

So took my new to me Rem 700 to the range today. Without the round the bolt will close no problem. As soon as you put a round in it I cannot get the bolt to close. I got 1 round to actually fire, but i think it was pure luck and ALOT of force. Any one have this issue before. While I have no problems messing with my handguns long guns are not my cup of tea. Will probably be bringing it to the shop in the morning before i break something on it unless anyone has any quick suggestions.

Sure sounds like reloads. Try some factory ammo and see if that helps.

Yeah I agree, head space doesn't sound right.

ive had brand new bolts with factory ammo do it. just kept working the gun and eventually lapped the locking lugs and bolt face...made it work like a charm!
