Ridgeline 2025

Just signed up for a couple more courses -I may try for the recce course course if it is open. would you use a LVPO or an Aimpoint and magnifier? Would be a 14.5 carbine... Course page says either is acceptable... I am leaning towards the Aimpoint...

Just signed up for some classes. They mention bringing note taking material. My hand writing is atrocious, would a ipad with keyboard / pen be acceptable? How many notes do people typically take?

You can't read your own handwriting?

I use a small notebook to jot down some key terms or phrases to remind me later if I want to expand on the information I heard.

I might write down a course of fire or the progression of drills.

Sometimes I keep track of how many student there are, how they carry their guns, and what guns they use.

The shotgun and pistol classes I took didn't result in a whole lot of notes, but I'll postulate that the scoped and precision rifle classes would generate more information.

I like the notebook and pen because I can stow them in a cargo pocket and quickly access them when needed.

Not sure how you would manage an iPad on the range. In the classroom for sure, but difficult on the line.

My handwriting isn't the best either, but I can read it and then look back on thoughts and ideas.

Depending on the class I might end up with a couple pages from the classroom time, but never had time on the range. I wouldnt bother with an ipad

Worth the pen and paper to write the instructors names down at a minimum lol

Right on, thanks for the info bud. I'll bring a notebook as backup just in case.

If I have to write too fast it gets increasingly more illegible. This only happens if the information is coming out faster than I can transcribe while paying attention.

lol. I write like a toddler with a crayon.

I'm more a chicken scratching type. Lots of hard lines in all directions very few of which resemble letters. Its like a game of Pictionary whenever I try to reread.
I’m literally a retard with a pen.

And I’m a mechanical engineer.

I tried a while back to use a voice recorder to help.

I do notes on my phone now.

I struggle with that also.

I'll hear something I want to remember, the race to write it down, fearful that I'll miss the next thing.

The next thing is usually the next course of fire, so I mess that up! [laugh]
