And this 'stamping on the bullet' itself just confounds me. Do they REALLY expect a chunk of (soft) metal that experiences pressure levels in the tens of thousands of PSI, moving at over a thousand FPS, to retain this 'micro stamped serial number'?

It's all about taxing the poor and the lazy out of a legal right. My own mother thinks there is nothing wrong with Deval trying to hike the fees of firearms licenses beacuse "it will make them harder to get". She then tried to insist that every state requires a license to own a gun. At this point, I just gave up and walked away.
If anything like this happens, it's time for everyone to put their money where their mouth is and put the Second Amendment to the use for which our forefathers created it.
