S&W 1911 E-Series Curved But - Price?

Shot 100 rounds through my new 1911SC tonight and another 75 or so through its big brother 1911TA, I love the way the lighter SC handles and shoots! Seems like I can get on target faster and it definitely shoots better than me but tonight was one of those sessions where everything was perfect, like a hole in one! Really glad I made the 4 hour round trip today [smile]

Congrats. I have not yet had mine out to the range, but will be doing so soon before it goes back to S&W to fix my night sight issue.

Thanks all. I like the look of the two-tone. I couldn't resist any longer and ended up getting one from the S&W Shooting Center's retail shop. Unfortunately when I got home and cleaned it I noticed the front night sight was out. I need to contact them and see what I need to do about that now. Kinda bummed about that, but love the newest addition to my 1911 family haha. I am hoping someone can just swap out the tritium vial so that I don't have to send it back to S&W and not have it for like 2-3 weeks, but I assume that is what is going to happen.

I dropped mine off at S&W last Thursday for that same reason, front night sight went out, I'm having them ship it back to me but I also wrote up the scratches under the slide release and thumb safety. They told me about a week. I'll let you know.
On another note when I grabbed the gun case the sticker price on it was $1179 in North Attleborough. I bought it just over a month ago.

So interestingly enough, I had thought it weird how the gun ejects rounds practically straight back right into my face (gouging my prescription glasses), but I figured it was random luck... well until the OP texted me and made a comment about rounds ejected right in his face... everyone else have this issue?

Well to add to my text of my new S&W 1911SC E-Series ejecting into my face, my old S&W 1911ES did this too at first. After about 200-300 rounds through it to break it in the stopped ejecting into my face and in a much more predictable direction. It should smooth out once its broken in.

Wearing a ballcap tends to help, I had a few bounce of my head on Saturday but none hit my glasses.

Yeah I need to get one for shooting. I have never been one to wear a hat (except a winter hat while snowboarding) but I think I need to change that for the range. when I caught a few in the forehead I kept thinking "Man I wish I had a hat with me". Luckily I wore contacts and shooting glasses instead of my prescription eye glasses, have a couple dents and scratches in the shooting glasses now.

I put a little over 100 rounds through mine yesterday and i developed a flinch after the second casing to the forehead so I wasn't hitting anything I wanted to. Hit the berm more than the steel plates, but I felt myself flinching and knew it was throwing me way off even though a cloud of dirt dust appeared right behind the plate I was aiming at haha (the plates were there right?).

When I was done I looked around at where the casings came to a rest on the ground.I had them from about ten feet behind me to about 15 feet to my right. I also had a couple casings in front of the firing line, I suspect my forehead redirected those ones. A few more boxes of ammo and then I should be back to hitting those plates when I'm not thinking "Is this one going to nail me in the face?" every trigger pull. They eject with force, no blood yet though.

Haha thats great! Luckily I only had that one hit me, and it was a light hit in the forehead.
If you don't mind me asking, what club do you belong to? I have yet to join a club and I am looking to join one. And since you are talking about steel plates, I am VERY interested haha

Anyone know who has the 1911 Full Size in stock.. anyone see a recent price. I looked at this gun about 6 months ago at FS and it was around $870 cash price... Would have bought it on the spot, but there a person in front of me that beat me to it.

Breyton, this all depends where you are located. I know that the S&W Shooting Center had a bunch of full size E-Series. You may want to call the shops around you and see if they have any.

One thing that I realized while shooting... If I load the 8 round magazine, chamber a round, eject the magazine and load a now 8th round in, the magazine will not go all the way in and lock into place. Is this happening for anyone else?

i picked up a full size a couple months ago. i was looking around everywhere in MA and couldn't find one. i kept on hearing the same broken record "they are on back order and its going to take a while". i decided to order one online and got it in about 2 weeks shipped to my local shop. everything ran me about 810 (including the transfer at the ffl). ordered it from Hyatt gun shop. so my recommendation is that if you can't find that full size any where, just order it online.

the only bad part about the purchase was that i couldn't inspect it. once i got it i noticed there were a lot of machine markings inside the slide. wasn't to thrilled about that, so i sent it back to S&W 2 weeks ago. still waiting to get it back. they had good customer service though so i was happy about that.

If I load my 8 round mag, it wont even let me seat it flush in the gun! After trying to force it, I looked at the top round, and there was a dent in the side of the friggin round! I guess i'll have to give it a bit to get broken in also...

If anyone is still looking for an E Series S&W 1911SC all black bobtail....there is at least one at North Shore Firearms in Middleton (well, there one was there on Saturday) and I saw at least one at Flint Armory in Fall River today.
