S&W Shield Magazine Spring Problem

My shield 9mm has less than 200 rounds through it, but I experienced a problem tonight that made me lose some confidence.

It seems the magazine spring bent after firing only 3 rounds tonight. It now won't accept more than 6 rounds in the 7 round magazine and, I imagine, will not feed rounds properly.

Has anyone else here experienced this problem?

I plan on contacting S&W tomorrow, but am quite disheartened by what should be a reliable carry gun.

Never had that issue but in all my Carry Mags including Glock's, XDS and shield I use Wolf +5% extra power springs. They are cheap, like 7 bucks.

Same problem happened with the M&P 45 mag springs (black paint), if the mag was overfilled or the rounds didn't stagger properly the spring would kink. S&W sent out replacement springs (powder blue paint) and modified followers.

Hadn't heard of it happening with the Shield however.

doesn't look deformed at all buy jamming in rounds that bound it, just the spiral isn't there oddly enough. like it was inserted into the mag by an assembler who didn't know any better.

Just spoke to Mark in customer service. They are sending new springs within the week. No waiting on hold either
