Over the past several years I have been mostly into handgun and rifles and up until this year never thought about a shotgun. That all changed when I picked up both the Mossberg 930 SPX and the Saiga 12 this year.
As a rule, I spend a good deal of time researching the pro's and con's of anything I buy and these two shotguns were no exception. Many of the comments that were negative on both guns were more than a year old and some I suspect were the result of inexperienced shooters or people that were not familiar with break in times and or cleaning procedure.
I decided to wait until I got the opportunity to clean and fire both rifles before I made a post but I have to say that firing either of these weapons was some of the most fun I have had at the range. I didn't get pictures but I fired a combination of low recoil, slugs, 7.5 and 8 birdshot at 50 yrds and the targets were devastated.
The Mossberg with it's 7+1 rounds seems to have less recoil than the Saiga but either can place a slug consistantly in a 3" pattern even with my inexperienced shooting. The Saiga will also shoot anything as long as the gas tube is adjusted for low recoil ...
I feel as though I entered a whole new realm of gun ownership with these and they are a blast.
If I had the funds and the room, I am convinced I would buy one more of each before they ban this kind of fun!![Grin [grin] [grin]](/xen/styles/default/xenforo/smilies.vb/041.gif)
As a final note, both are excellent tactical shotguns and will feed on just about anything. Perhaps I was lucky but I didn't experience in either the issues with feedng or sighting the guns that I read and researched.
