DEVELOPING: Several teenagers were shot Tuesday at a bus stop near a Detroit high school after summer school classes ended, but there were conflicting reports about how many victims there were and whether they are students.

One local radio station said seven were shot, all of them students at Cody High School who had just finished the day's summer school session.

The Associated Press said five teens were shot, and it wasn't immediately known whether any of them were students.

Police told local media that multiple shots were fired into a crowd waiting at a bus stop on the city's West side.

Initial reports indicated that two boys, two girls and two other unidentified victims were struck by bullets.

The victims were taken to several hospitals in the area, but their conditions were not known.

Detroit Public Schools spokesman Steve Wasko told the AP the victims were shot about a block away from Cody High School shortly after summer classes got out, but he didn't know whether any were students.

Detroit Police spokeswoman Yvette Walker didn't immediately have any information, according to the AP.

A woman was seen being handcuffed and taken into police custody, but it was not known whether she was a suspect in the shooting, according to local reports.

Well, that settles it.

Detroit needs common sense laws to ban bus stops near high schools.

Seriously, can't have all of those targets congregating around in the same place, makes it to tempting for the G's to bust caps with their gats... Somebody should pass a "No standing in groups at the bus stop law". It's enabling the gang bangers.

This kind of sh*t wouldn't happen if Michigan would simply pass some common sense gun laws!! A criminal shouldn't be able to walk in to a gun shop off the street and just pick up any old handgun he wants and go on a killing spree! It should be R-E-G-U-L-A-T-E-D!!!!

What? It is? How so? For Michigan specifically, what do I have to do to buy a handgun??

Let's see-----

1) To purchase a handgun in Michigan the buyer must obtain a license to purchase from the local chief of police.

2) The buyer must be 18 years of age, a U.S. citizen, a resident of Michigan, have no felony conviction, have never been adjudged insane (unless later restored by court order), and score 70 percent on a basic pistol safety review questionnaire.

3) The license to purchase must be filled out in triplicate at the time of purchase. The license shall include a description of the handgun sold and the signatures of both the buyer and seller. The seller may retain one copy and the buyer retains the other two.

4) After purchase and delivery of the handgun is completed, the buyer must return the license to purchase along with the purchased handgun, unloaded and encased or trigger locked, to the local licensing (law enforcement) authority within 10 days.

5) The buyer (licensee) will then be issued a safety inspection certificate (registration) for the handgun. One copy of the license will be held by the local authority for six years and the remaining copy shall be forwarded to the Commissioner of State Police.

Hmmm...... I see. I didn't know a criminal had to jump through so many hoops to get their gun.... wait... it already says in step 2) that a criminal can't even do steps 3-5.... I'm just confused as hell now....

If you are going to hang around a bus stop in Detroit be sure it's in front of this house:
