Shots Fired Outside Fitchburg Courthouse Tuesday

In all seriousness I find FPD to be one of the most corteous outfits in the area. I used to work for Kathy's Towing out of Shirley, and whenever I had a question about something I was towing, weather the question was about who it belonged to, wheather or not it was stolen, etc etc, they usually gave me a prompt response, and they're one of the few departments who actually respond withing 15 minutes of me calling on the non emergency line. They do an awesome job with the resources availible, but if they allocate more money and hire more officers I believe it will benefit the entire city. I'd like to see more community policing, bike patrols, foot patrols, etc.

I used to live up on the hill in the Cleghorn section, near Parkhill park. The neighborhood was pretty good when we moved in but it went bad really fast a couple of years later. One night we woke up at 3:30 AM with about a dozen Cops running around our house apprehending a couple of BG's at gunpoint. Within the next six months we had two attempeted break-iin's so we had enough and moved

I will give a Tip O' the Stetson the Fitchburg P.D., they do a great job with what they have to work with. I remember at one point in the 90's they were down to three working patrol cars and were using an old beat up maintence pick-up truck to patrol with.

Derek, that's a good neighborhood but I recommend you get a good alarm for your house.

Think maybe Boston could learn a thing or two from Fitchburg?:

City Councilor at-large Annie K. DeMartino said the shooting shows the city's violence is reaching a new level.

DeMartino instead placed the blame on the judicial system, which she said is not properly punishing offenders.

"The system is failing us," DeMartino said. "If it was stricter maybe they wouldn't continue with their crimes."

Cleghorn is not as bad as it was years back, one too many fires and the bad areas are gone .. the city has done a great job on the FD and even if Simmon Saw is no longer, the land serves a great deed.

The parks are somewhat cleaner now too, I have only been in this city for a few years.. but have seen alot change.
