Sig P229 Thoughts

Depending on how large your hand is you would be advised to try it with the factory grips and then also the Hogue rubber grips.

I have used both but found I was more accurate with the hogue's.

Have fun the first time is a HOOT.

Thanks again for the feedback. I am going to try and check one out this weekend. It seems everyone likes this pistol, and I am anxious to hold and get the feel for it. I actually just joined HSC, and am jusy waiting for my cards, then I will be there shooting quite a bit. Thanks for the offer to let me shoot it and I will let you know. I first want to hold it, which tells me a lot right off the bat.

+1 on the Hogues.

The knuckle on my right thumb is a bit messed up due to being broken and having a bit of arthitis. So, it has a raised bump that the stock grips on the 229 chewed up. The Hogues were way better. I think they should be standard equipment on that gun.

If Sigs were cars they would be Cadilacs. Have a P239 and a P220. Love them. You gotta get one in 357Sig. Amazing round.

My 1998 vintage P229 is a great gun and except for the S&W Model 39, no other pistol fits my hand so well. I really like the optional short trigger. It's the gun I most frequently carry, and except for one time when the magazine was not properly seated (operator error) it has never jammed or otherwise malfunctioned.

In short, the P229 is a winner from any perspective.

My first gun and the one I shoot the best. It fits my hand just right and has a nice balance. I almost wish it wasn't my first gun, so I could've experienced lesser guns first, so I would've been more wowed when I first got a hold of a Sig. Definitely the cadillac of pistols. Happy gun shopping.

I think it's more the BMW of pistols.[smile]

I'd second that. For analogies sake the Cadillac of Pistols would be a high end Colt 1911. The Sig, with its Bavarian roots, would be the BMW...

Totally off the subject, this reminds me of the opening scene from the 4th season of The Wire, when the gangsterette is buying the nail gun and she gets back in the car and says, "Salesman told me it was the Cadillac of nail guns...but he meant Lexus.

Fine, you win.

HSC

Is there anyone who is willing to let me test out the p229 .40 who might be a member of HSC? U checked one out this weekend and it felt pretty good, but I would still like to fire it. Thanks all.
