Just think. A family is clearing out granddads garage after he passed. They come across a wooden box, inside wrapped is an oil soaked rag is what they thought was a an old pistol. What it turns out to be is an unfit original WWI Colt slide, two unfired barrels, and most of the parts for a 1911. The only large pert missing is a frame. They looked hard, but could not find the frame. As a tribute to the veteran they decided to use as many of the original parts and have me build a gun around the parts. I sources as many WWI parts as needed to complete the build on a Caspian "Classic" 1911 frame with a special serial number in honor of the dear departed. The slide had a few spots of rust which were removed and the entire project was blued in the classic brushed finish Colt used in early GI production. I had a chance during the build to be the first one to fire rounds through the nearly 100 year old barrel, a thrill for me.

Thanks for looking.

Greg, all I can say is Wow. Really, wow.

How often do you get to enhance the historical relevance of a bunch of old parts all while building it up to modern levels of fit, function and accuracy. Just gorgeous.

Don

p.s. I'd bet its a great shooter. Too bad the front sight still sucks. Ha.

Gregg, I've had some time to put a few rounds down range and I can't thank you enough the gun shoots great. I can't wait to show it to the family!
