Storing shotgun and AR’s. Do you store them barrel up or down?

Do most here store their shotguns and AR’s barrel up, Down or both?

Up. Important to not over lube wood stock shotguns. Excess oil will eventually pool and stain, soften the wood.

Both, to get the best efficiency in storing. Upside down will generally be rifles with muzzle devices so that I'm not blocking off barrels.

That’s dumb. Now your guns can’t reproduce. I had a 12 and 20 gauge in the safe and a 16 gauge mysteriously appeared. A 9mm and a .380 got me a 9mm Makarov, also. I think the .25 was a stillbirth.

Muzzle up. Only gun I have muzzle down is my desert eagle with the 14.5" barrel. My safe is crammed and the only way I could fit it was with the muzzle down

Horizontal......stacked like cord wood, in gun cases with a full mag inserted and 4-12 mags in peripheral pouches.

All the shotguns but one, are leaning by/behind the doors.

But realistically i leave guns out now when i'm home, because free state.

All my safes have carpeted interiors. I somewhat alternate the orientation to fit them all in.

Makes more room in the safe to store more guns. I’ve run out of room in my current safe so I stagger them up and down. Can add another 5 to 6 now.
