Hi guys,

I'm not thrilled with the rear sight on my 686. It has the white outline kind of like this:

But without the white post and no serations.

I'd like something plain black, probably with serations.

Any suggestions? Is it possible to just replace the blade? I flipped through Brownells catalog and didn't see any replacement sights.

I want this basicly for bullseye shooting.

Thanks,
Matt

Matt,
Millet makes some very nice sights. I believe that you can buy extra blades in various styles. Check Brownell's for availability.

Hi Matt -

Rear sight blade replacement on Smiths is relatively straightforward - the procedure is described here: http://smith-wessonforum.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/530103904/m/875107028/p/3 (scroll about halfway down the page).

Sight replacement kits (which you'll need because the windage screw is sheared in the process) are available from Brownells in various heights - they're on page 495 of the current catalog.

Matt,

The blade you are showing is a Millet white outline. I would guess the blade you have by the description is a S&W white outline.

The LPA sights are nice but need to be widened out for a better sight picture. Not enough light on the sides of the post for me and I have three sets.

The Millet all black is available from Brownell as a complete sight assembly allowing you to keep the original intact. The blade will not fit the S&W sights.
