Target Sports Delivering Again - Megathread

It’s sporadic, but if you hit stores at the right time, they have it. As I posted last week, places like BassPro and Cabelas haven’t moved their prices much since before, so what was high, is now cheap, if you can find it. I scored 300 rds. of 5.56 for .43/rd. Wally World has been hit or miss for .22 and 12ga. I landed 500 rds. Of HP mini mags for .08/rd which again, isn’t normally cheap, but it beats the price of the Lapua and SK stuff by a long shot.

Yeah, the guy at Basspro says that when they have it, 9mm is like $12/box - it's just that if they have it they have it for five minutes every few weeks.

When the availability at TS is the same but the price is twice as high, there’s no reason to even bother with them. If they always had availability, so if you were desperate you could get some ammo, that’d be different. But they sell out just as quick. I’m not going to spend all my time waiting for something to come in stock for a few minutes at .60 a round when I could do the same thing at other sites less than half that.

Only thing Ive ordered recently off TSUSA were some hunting rounds for a friend. Free shipping makes it worth it still

I went to BassPro yesterday, I stopped by the gun department just to see how bad things were. They had one case w/ perhaps ten revolvers on display, no semis. They usually have several cases full of [overpriced] handguns. No handgun ammo at all. Asked the guy re handguns, he said they had no semis at all. He said it's going to be two years minimum before there will be handguns & ammo, that the problem is a steel shortage (says the manufacturers told him this).

From what I've heard it's not a steel shortage per se, but the fact that the steel producers (down in South America is where most of them are evidently) are dealing with the same Covid restrictions as everywhere else, which is slowing the production process on the front end. I've no proof of this, it's just what I've heard.

Those golden bullets, used to be my reliable go to, not in the pre damaged bucket but in the plastic boxes. Then something changed and I started having problems, don't know what but some QC issue was introduced.

Now I run 40 grain round nose mini mags, sometimes 36 grain hollow. Those are GTG in all my .22 LR stuff so I don't need to worry about which ammo in which gun, I stock a shit ton of that only.

Looked at both 12 and 20 target loads (2 3/4, 7.5 shot) for trap and they are ridiculously over priced...i just wish it was more consistent locally with walmart, basspro, where ever I can find them...if only larry p could have them in stock when they have free shipping...

Several new items regarding steel/iron:

Cleveland-Cliffs to acquire ArcelorMittal USA for about $1.4B in cash and stock

Received some .223 from TSU today. The boxes have "Riley's Sport Shop" stickers on them.
Looks like Riley closed in Nov’2019. TSU selling repossessed bankruptcy settlement ammo?

I'm not super desperate but unlike others I never shot much 9mm or considered them a primary weapon, lately though my new toys (PC Charger and an AR9) eat the stuff so been buying a little so as not to run into what I do have stored away.

Today was 200 rounds at .55 from TS. When I have gone looking at the usual suspects price and availability hasn't been any better but I guess I should keep an eye out and keep checking.

If people stopped buying, we'd be back to normal. Funny how that works.

Please tell the 5 million or whatever it is new gun owners that.

This is Sandy Hook 2.0 for no reason.
Lol this current BS makes Sandy Hook look like basically nothing.

No reason? "Unprecedented demand" is a pretty good reason.

Biden and Kamala want Beto Rourke, Miss "I WILL take your AKs and ARs and weapons of war" in charge of gun control policies...
On top of Covid, looting, millions of new gun owners, and millions of pending new gun owners. In one year. Unlike TP, a lot of places require permits and paperwork to buy a gun/ammo. Those take time to process. The backlogged demand from new LTC holders is gonna crush ANY ammo that is still available. At ANY price.

Sandy hook was mostly current gun owners stocking up. Typical Republican, White, male etc. This one also has liberal transgender socialist POC lining up outside the gun store. In the millions.

Trying to explain to my father (63 yo new gun owner) how crazy prices are. He said to me “ you sound like me when I try to tell you I could buy a snickers for a quarter”

Point is new gun owners don’t care what we use to pay. Papa is Happy spending 600/ thousand and 50 for a box of run-of-the-mill hollow points. He has the means to do so and plans to continue to do so. This current thing isn’t going away anytime soon.

Yeah, I'm thinking about stopping the notifications. I have made a few trades in the past month and have re-balanced my holdings. I did an inventory and had way more 5.56/.223 than I thought or would ever shoot and less 9mm than I though I had... but that is no longer a problem. Was even able to trade some .40 & .45 for some 9 & .38. Very happy with my stash now.

a balanced portfolio to weather turbulent times. Sounds like a mutual fund ad. The Ammo Fund,

So I have the chance to buy the following ammo, locally:

.380 ACP FMJ $20 per 50
38 special FMJ and LWC $18 per 50
Steel cased 223 $7 per 20
Brass cased 223 $8 per 20

I don't need any of this ammo but if anyone thinks this is something they'd want/need, I'll buy it. Must pick up in Gloucester....

Waiting to hear back on the exact number of rounds this person has.

And that 5 million are just the ones who could be recorded.

That should be enough financial incentives to spur on new Powder/Primers/Projos/Brass/Ammunition manufacturers to open factories and supply the masses...

Come on America! Get Rolling!
