Taunton Rifle and Pistol Club

Fifty applicants are accepted per month. I haven't been in the office much this week, but you'd be in the batch for March - having your application voted on at the March meeting [first Sunday of the month] with a normal orientation slated for the fourth Sunday of the month.

You've done this dance before. The orientation shouldn't be any more exciting, but the orientation crew has grown fatter, balder, and greyer.

You'll be there soon enough [rofl]NO ESCAPE [laugh]

Thank you! Received postcard few days ago confirming march, eager to get back to it!

82-96 minutes, on average. If you're in Dave's group, you'll take 10 minutes longer. ;)

And if you can be on site 5 minutes before your session [whether 9 or 11 AM] begins, it helps everyone.

Kudos to everyone who missed this meeting.

Relevant matters:

The outdoor range has once again been bulldozed clean of trash. Please, PLEASE try to keep it clean. The 3% of you who pick up trash are now carrying the weight of 3960 members. Thank you.

Please spread the message.

Burning bin is now emptied out, please deposit any broken bits of pallets or other burnable debris near the gate.

In short order, pistol caliber carbines will be allowed on the indoor ranges, now that the nasty winter weather is over. Please DO NOT show up with your carbines quite yet - the E-Board is still finalizing rules pertaining to PCCs. [Unofficially, it appears we're returning to the mid 80's era club 'special weapons permit']

Please try to leave the ranges better than you've found them.

Raffle tickets for the Kel-Tec Sub-2000 9mm Mark II are still available. [TRPC printed 300 tickets. We will run out well before the drawing. If you want an excuse to get a fun gun, buy your tickets now.] Proceeds help support the Taunton Marksmanship Unit

Will it be posted on the TRPC website when they start allowing the PCC's indoors?

Han - yes.

Bullitt - drawing will be held at the June meeting.

Orientation this Sunday, try to show up a few minutes before the scheduled start.

Outdoor pin shoot says 5.18.19 , which is a Saturday.

Has the plate shoot ever been shot indoors? During the week?

Got to put this stuff into the calendar, otherwise i forget.

Everyone --
The INDOOR ranges will be closed this Thursday, May 2, from Noon until 4 PM for intensive cleaning.

Kope -

Outdoor STEEL PLATE shoots start third SUNDAY of the month, for May 19. The post on the club website is in error.

Indoor, notionally 22 cal, bowling pin shoots are continuing after the club meeting for now.

Indoor pins had been going on the evening of 3rd Thursday for the winter but have ceased for now.

Out of curiosity, what event happens on mondays? Ive been by a few times and saw the parking lot full for the indoor range. The website states events on tueaday and Wednesday but nothing for monday. Just wondering. Thanks

Nothing organized. Most likely the juniors practicing. If most of the vehicles are clustered near the dump side of the building, that is a dead giveaway.

When does the .22 pistol league officially start? I think most of those guys shoot an informal league in the off season, but what are the dates of the official league?
Thanks.

It will begin at some point in September, and run until March or early April. The formal vote on when to begin has not taken place, and will not take place until mid August.

Yes, on Tuesdays the Taunton teams [red, blue, black] 'practice' and give each other grief with a handicap match. Show up with a cursory knowledge of NRA gallery pistol course, eye & ear protection and a good attitude if you are interested.

Thanks Ben, I just need to work on 1 handed shooting. I plan on showing up in June. I know some of those guys from Trap, and am familiar with the, "Grief."

Hello Bullitt73.

We [as a club] try to maintain some wooden cargo pallets at the impact area of the outdoor range bays. You are welcome to use those to hold your targets.

You are also entirely welcome to bring your own target stands, whether they be a few grading stakes, a simple slip fit PVC target stand , sawhorses, or something else.

Please be certain you've reviewed the range rules because the outdoor range operates differently from the indoor facility - at the outdoor range, the targets always live at the impact area and you adjust your distance by walking closer to the targets.

No glass, no exploding targets OF ANY NATURE and please pick up your casings and targets when you have had enough fun.

Have fun, use good judgement and be safe.

Thank you for the info and I will review the outdoor range rules....

Thanks for info on the outdoor range! Any update on PCCs at the indoor? I was there last weekend and the signs were still up.
Most of the effort over the past few months has been focused on improving the West range, engineering changes required for the new backstop, permitting, and ancillary matters.

Separately, too much time was spent fixing the gate at the outdoor range. Some idiot with an oversized truck hit it, again, at the end of May.

No change on PCC's. When the policy changes, it will be publicized.

There was a good crowd for indoor pins tonight [third thursday] and we still intend to do the outdoor plate shoot this Sunday on the narrow hundred yard range. If interested, bring a good attitude, eye / ear protection, and appropriate gear for the weather.

Steel plate match this Sunday, narrow hundred yards range. Setup at 9, first shots at ten.

Rules as posted.

Poblius - separately, the twin county pistol league has its first shoot Tuesday the 24th
