The list is intended to elevate the nation's highest court as an issue in 2020 – and put pressure on Democratic nominee Joe Biden to follow suit.

The list of 20 new names is composed of federal appeals and district court judges, U.S. senators and others who he might nominate to the high court if given the chance in a second term. They include Sens. Tom Cotton of Arkansas, Ted Cruz of Texas and Josh Hawley of Missouri.
But one name on Trump's earlier list – Judge Amy Coney Barrett, who he placed on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit – is said to be a possible nominee even sooner should ailing Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, 87, leave the bench this year.
Well generally you chose judges for the Supreme Court as you can vet their experience in hearing wide array of cases from an assumed place of neutrality.
That actually puts him up higher on the NES list of acceptable candidates. I think you forgot where you are.
No, but it is pretty clear she will send her retirement letter at 11 pm Eastern on Tuesday November 3, 2020, regardless of who wins. If Trump wins, God willing, she'll retire because she's too ill and old to hold 4 more years. If Biden wins, God helps us all, she'll retire because she achieved her goal.

Technically not a requirement for SCOTUS. From Wikipedia:
"In total, of the 114 Justices appointed to the Court, 49 have had law degrees, an additional 18 attended some law school but did not receive a degree, and 47 received their legal education without any law school attendance."
