The Glock really is perfection, in terms of simplicity of design.

If you don't like the gun because of the ergos or looks fine, but why all the hate towards extremely reliable, fairly lightweight, proven guns? .

Because if we had nothing to argue about all we would have is some drunk posting, girlie pic threads getting locked, and one serious gun content thread a month.

To be privy to the secret NES handshake, you must have a hatred of at least two of the following: Glocks, .40s, cats, bicyclists, and cops.

how about a glock-hater-fest? If you don't like the gun because of the ergos or looks fine, but why all the hate towards extremely reliable, fairly lightweight, proven guns? There are personally a bunch of guns that I don't care for because of looks, ergos, weight...etc, but I don't go around hating on them for no real reason. Not every gun is going to fit your hand perfectly unless everyone had the same size hands.

Because its fun. "Your gun sucks." (no matter what you own) The sooner everyone knows that, and just accepts it, the easier things get. I stopped caring what someone else thought awhile ago. I used to be "one of those" (I'll never buy a glock/plastic gun blah blah blah) Now I don't care. If someone doesn't like whatever I'm carrying, they can buy something else. That's why this is Murrica! [laugh]

I like Glocks though, they piss me off the least. But many others hate them, perhaps to an irrational degree, and I'm fine with that. I don't care. I don't care if someone polishes their Hi-Point or Taurus every night and calls it the best gun ever. Not my problem.

Not all of us have small, girly hands. [laugh]

I pretty much have girl hands and I can comfortably hold every model they make. Even the original fatties, although the short frames fit much better.

I never understood the hate for them by some people.

I have just about one of every make of handgun out there, glock included and I love it just like the rest of my handguns. If it goes bang reliably, then I like the gun... rarely do I come across a gun I dont like.

I just so happen to shoot my glocks very well, so we have a good relationship.

no hate for 1911s?

I could argue the 1911 on this, but it would be rejected out of hand, so I won't.

I know a few people that buy their first 1911, take it apart, and get a huge cut on their forehead. Glock doesn't have that problem. Just sayin'. I love 1911's for their design, looks, history, etc. But Glocks are almost foolproof (unless you have .40)

So it's not ok for me to carry a .40cal Glock in a holster made from cat hide, while riding my bicycle to the police station?

Nuts. I like all of those things. Yes, even (most) cops. So much for the handshake.

OP, sorry to troll your thread, but there have been a whole lot of them. BTW I carry a G66 (now called a G30S).

Yep such a simply yet sexy gun

Does no one read the entire thread? That's not even a Glock [laugh]

Check and check

It's not the gun that's the problem. [wink]

to turn your 1911 in on a gun buyback

It's not the gun that's the problem.

I was thinking that, but held my tongue.

...I suppose I should actually SHOOT a Glock before I can accurately comment on them. Nah, when has anyone on NES needed personal life experience to come to a conclusion about anything?

I was pleasantly surprised the first time I shot one. I get the craze, I really do. There's a reason people seek Glocks and not Keltecs... It still doesn't mean I have to like them.

Honestly, I considered a Glock for my first handgun, but it didn't feel right in my hand. It felt like a toy, and the contour was all wrong to me. Even standard 1911 grips don't feel right to me; mine has a wraparound contoured grip. I dunno, just not a huge fan. Might pick one up in 9mm at some point, but I have a laundry list to get before that happens [smile]

Oh yuck. I hate wraparound grips on 1911s.

Lot of people do. Mine are Colt grips though, so I don't feel bad about it.

Back on track: I seem to recall being told to stay away from the Glock... 19? 17? Dunno what number... anyone know why one of the models is apparently a steaming pile of crap?

Glorious Makarov has 27 and it's not some cheap plastic that is made into stockings for women.

I had no idea. I was wondering why people were so interested in those things.

I think I'll skip it:

When that slide came apart, it reportedly hit the shooter in the face, causing injury.

The Curious Caracal KABOOM | The Firearm Blog

Yeah, I saw a thread on that gun at THR. They were saying the heat treatment on the slide may have been bad. That's too bad on a gun that's still new to the market.
