The Glock really is perfection, in terms of simplicity of design.

Anyone know much about the Caracal? Only 28 parts to Glock's 35 parts.

Nice guns but there aren't a lot of them floating around yet, also no cripplemags for the MA pant wetting crowd, as far as I know.

Part count doesn't really mean a whole lot, in the grand scheme of things. Either is still uncomplicated, in relative terms. Nice thing about the Caracal is the trigger is really smooth out of the box. It's like someone took the Glock trigger and cleaned up the pull a bit.

I think I'll skip it:

When that slide came apart, it reportedly hit the shooter in the face, causing injury.

Unless a rash of these start happening, my bet is it's a bad run or something... although even in Glock land with all the KBs, I don't think I've ever seen a pic of a Glock slide busted in that manner.

^ Boris you beat me to it. In the pistol realm as far as reliability and simplicity of design? Yeah, Makarov takes it.

Yeah but it weighs 9000 pounds and doesn't fire 9mm Luger.

That said the Mak is pretty much the king of the skinflint pistols... you can't really beat it for what it doesn't cost, it's pretty much impossible. None of the other pistols in that price class come close, for what you usually get. The Mak is also still carryable, unlike a lot of other shitboxes like Hi Points, etc.

I've been carrying a full size steel 1911 for so many years, the Makarov seems light as hell to me when I switch to it. It's what I carry the majority of the time in the summer, so I really only notice how heavy it is on those rare occasions where I'll carry the Ruger LCP in an IWB instead of the Makarov. Then I'm reminded of how heavy all steel carry guns are, but with the LCP I feel like I'm carrying a water pistol. That little bastid is usually only carried as a BUG on the ankle, if at all.

So it's not ok for me to carry a .40cal Glock in a holster made from cat hide, while riding my bicycle to the police station?

No, you are good to go. You had to kill a cat to make the holster so you obviously hate them, and the fact that you would put your Glock in that cat hide holster confirms that you hate your Glock as well. Meet me out back and I'll show you the handshake...
