The M&P sucks thread

How did tis thread go from an M&P rant to e-raping people with an AK? Ouch.

if you were as traumatized as me, you just might understand.

Go pull a m1895 trigger. Then go pull a m&p full sized 9mm. Is there a difference? No? Exactly.

Now you totally understand how this thread can turn into AKM rape at the drop of a hat.

animalistic dominance is a big part of the tribal ooga booga mentality that possesses 80% of the world's AK owners. and flip flops. flip flops are a big part of that subculture, too.

that, too. Why else would I buy a m&p under other people's recommendation? My ingrained love of the AK naturally makes me lean heavily on tribal opinion.

gardening gloves and life-vest body armor as well... It's like larping with live ammo...

I would take a free state M&P9 with high-caps over any Sig. That's assuming I couldn't get a Glock 17/19/34 for some reason.

Well, if you asked the M&P crowed what the end of the world rifle is, they'd say it was the Liberty Training Rifle.
I suppose its possible the world comes to an end because we are overrun by rabid squirrels? Europe was almost wiped out by plague ridden rats... [wink]

FWIW, I like my M&P45, but I've yet to find any point for an M&P9 (though I keep an eye out for doors that won't stay open and tables missing neary an inch off a leg...)

I have and older German Walther P99, personally I'd still take it over an M&P (and over a glock). That's my only plastic gun.

I think a lot of the polymer guns these days are cheap to produce and lacking character.

The thing is that the squirrels would be 16-times as large if they were 400 yards away.

I'm fine with my M&P9c. After a trigger job I paid about the same as I would have for a 14 year old Glock that rattles like a 72 Datsun on a cobblestone street. In a free state my choices may very well have been different.

Oh really? How much does a 14 year old Glock cost in MA?

My new Glock 34 cost me $520.
My new Glock 27 cost me $560.
A 14 year old Glock? Well, I'd guess maybe like $350 in MA.

Me: "I think I am going to get a new pistol this month with my tax return, I want something to shoot this season that is not a .45."

Gf: "What kind?"

Me: "Glock 34."

Gf: "Glock fag."

[laugh]

What? Wait - how'd an LTR get in here? I thought y'all were bashing the M&P.

Personally, I'd probably reach for my AR. Or the Garand.

Unless I was being attacked by rabid squirrels in which case it's the 10/22 all the way.

All $499 or more. The resale value on Glocks in this state is stupid. I LIKE Glocks. I'm not knocking them, just the fact that this state creates an environment where a utilitarian pistol becomes a commodity.

A serious suggestion - Don't go to FS if your looking for a deal on Glocks.

Suggestion taken and that's fine. The fact still remains that there's an overpriced market for used Glocks in MA so to get anything close to a good deal, you have to hunt. I'll hunt for "special" gun but not for gun that can be had for cheap in every other state.

I could get a new free state M&P tomorrow for $479.

Brand new glocks and free state M&Ps are a fair comparison, and pre-98 glocks and new MA M&Ps are a fair comparison, availability wise. Comparing a new Glock you have to hunt down / be in the know to get and a MA M&P you can walk in to any shop and buy is apples to bananas.

I dont agree with that at all. All pre 98 glocks are just as good as the ones now. 1st, 2nd and some 3rd gens were out before the ban, and they are all very similar performance wise. I cant tell the difference.

Root cause of you're problem is you live in MA and are forced to buy shitty guns. My M&P9 is great. I've got about 5k rounds thru mine in less than a year now.

It's amazing how a gun operate correctly when you don't install a bad trigger, neutered mags, a mag safety, and a take down lever.

ETA: I paid $459

availability wise, yes, they are comparable.

Performance wise, a new MA M&P compares nicely with a m1895 Nagant Revolver.

I'm no gun pro but:

- Could care less about having a ton of rounds in my gun. 10+1 is plenty if I learn how to shoot my gun well
- I'm used to my trigger, but cheap solutions are available
- If the M&P has a cheap feel to it, then so does the Glock, feels the same to me. SIGs are clearly superior but they're mad money
- Never had an issue breaking my gun down after I shoot it

At the end of the day, the M&Ps are great guns for the price, specially for people that aren't gun-pros. Easy to shoot, trouble free, cheap to buy, easy to clean.

I do recognize that there are many nicer guns out there, but to declare that they "suck" with any kind of authority is way off base IMHO.

if Smith and Wesson could only include something that would make their pistol GTG right out of the box...

I think Dench doesn't understand that it's him. He's still blaming the equipment.

Dench: "Clearly these sights need to be drifted..."

Armorer: "When you can shoot a group smaller than a basketball bring it back to me and I'll think about it."
