My thinking is that this would be someone that wanted a small compact gun with a folding stock to put in a backpack or something like that and he used whatever he had around the house to make it.
So this is what I have to start with. I bought a Ruger 10/22 receiver that was already registered as an SBR. I found a 5 inch barrel that someone had hacked down and I had an old Tapco stock laying around. I have a 10/22 rifle that I will use the guts from for now until I can get some. I also had a folding stock from a PPS43 parts kit that I harvested the fold stock bar and pin to convert my PPS43 to an SBR.
So I choped off the tube thing that the collapsing stock ran on. I learned that using a grinder with a cut off wheel isn't that good for cutting plastic. A chunk of very hot plastic flew up and landed on my nose, buring it. I went to flick it off and it stuck to my finger and now I have a burn there too.
Next I had to grind and file off the back part of the stock so the PPS43 stock would fit over the stub and onto the stock so that the length when unfolded would be about the same as the collapsing that was on it.
It took a bunch of grinding and filing to get it to fit up well.
Next I choped the front of it off. I got smarter this time a used a hand saw. It worked much better. I even cut down the pic rail cover so it can be still used.
So this is what it looks like so far.
Then I went and put the trigger group in to see what it would look like.
I think I like the look of it better with just the 10 round mag in it
The gun is heavy but it seems to be weighted almost 50/50 with the stock folded.
Still need to do some stuff to it.
I still need to secure the PPS43 stock to the Tapco stock. Need to get a spring and bolt to make the folding stock work correctly. I think I have a red dot that will be small enough to work with the folding stock. I would like to get the barrel treaded so I can put a suppressor on it, but I have to find someplace that will do it for a reasonable price.
I think it is coming out pretty good so far. For some reason it reminds me of a space blaster.
