Thoughts on NY safe-Act bill

Was wondering if anyone had a thought regarding the need to register guns that you own but keep in another state. I would think you could avoid registration then? Cause I plan on keeping them elsewhere. I know that no-one probably really knows but was looking for thoughts from others?

States do not have any authority over what you do outside their borders.

I plan on registering mine (at least some of them) in state and storing them out of it. This way, I can legally have them in NY but should the state try any funny business they won't be able to get their hands on them.
