The sight situation..... if you are talking about the white dot falling out... it is so stupid, I have 3 new frt sights S&W sent me, they said to send it in, I told them no biggie to me, I have a bottle of white out on the table, they sent me new sights anyways, want one? The white works great and is brighter than the original white dot... took me all of about 60 seconds to clean with rag and apply a drop of it. I haven't touched it in over a year... notice I have the Tri nite sites on the rear.. one of these days, I may get the nite frt site.. got all my meds ready to go..
Jack, am not talking about the front falling off my M&P. Though I appriciate the offer. Please re read my previous and op. I am talking about the sight alignment. If I try to align my sights, where the top of the sights match and the dots line up, it shoots low, but if I bring my front sight slightly higher than my rear sight, it shoots where I want it. Very odd IMHO. I have to bring the front sight halfway higher than my rear sights.

oh ya, I remember that part now. I was responding to the latest part about your friend getting his gun back without the dot... As for the front sight height.. for the record, I had a bit of a time with the 40c and 357sig barrels on mine, I was shooting low and terribly low with the 357sig. In the end, I found it to be me. I found I must have been dropping the front of the gun just a tad, must have been getting prepared for the big bang of the 2 rounds. My full size M&P's didn't have that problem. I only shot the 357sig a couple of times before burrying the barrel in my range bag, it was just too much. I broke it out a year later, after buying and shooting a couple of compact 1911's and the gun shot perfect with the 357sig. I figured out I must have gotten used to the recoil of the large caliber in a small frame and now I'm fine. I even had 2 of the range officers shoot the compact with the 357 sig barrel the first time out with it and both shot low...

To sum it up, you may be surprised to find it could be you if the next time you go to the range and have a friend play the bullet, no bullet game with your magazine so you don't know when it is loaded or not. You'll see real quick if the frt of the barrel is droppping..

Just for the record, I wouldn't alter my sight picture like that to alter point of impact. I would keep the same sight picture but alter the point of aim (AKA "Kentucky windage")

And unless you're shooting at 50+ yards, I think something's wrong for it to shoot so low. Sending it to S&W is the right thing to do.

Good luck!

I've had over half a dozen trigger jobs done by Lou, and theres a good chance I spend more time at the range, putting more rounds down range than the average bear. I've NEVER had an issue with ANY gun Lou has worked on. Rifle, shotgun, pistol or otherwise. Same goes for ALL of my instructors and friends I've sent to Lou. BEC does top notch work, and if the gun was malfunctioning BEFORE you brought it to him, it's an issue that you should have told him about PRIOR to posting something on the web that may not be true. As others have said, it could be a mechanical error, or user error. Limp wristing, bad magazines, bad extractor, bad recoil spring, all those things could result in the malfunctions you mentioned. I'm more than positive if you told Lou about the problem to begin with, he could have diagnosed the issue then and there. As a certified armorer on the platform, he knows the gun inside and out and has seen many different types of issues with them. If for some reason Lou can't fix it, I'm sure he'll help you get in touch with the right people at Smith and Wesson.

I just skimmed the past page, but as to the white dots falling out, seems to happen alot. I saw it mentioned someplace they have an issue degreasing them before painting. I use Testors white model paint from wally world. never another problem after that, just degrease with high test rubbing alcohol first.

WRG where it shoots, mine hits dead on with the sights lined up equal height, at 20 something feet. At 25 yards, I hit about 8-12" high with the same sight setup. Have to aim low. Then again, its not designed for long range work.[grin]

@DRFTraining,At no point did I say it was Lou's fault. I did mention this on an earlier post. With that being said, I posted after the trigger job becauseI figured maybe it would smooth some of the kinks out. So I posted to see if anyone else was experiencing what I was. I had the gun looked at. Lou did find the recoil spring to be loose and a little diffrent than others, but he said he doesn't think the spring is the culprit. He tweaked the recoil spring a little bit, polish my feed ramp, resurfaced my breech face, slightly loosen the tension on the extractor. At home it ran fine with snap cap, but the true test comes next week when I take it to the range. And please, let's be clear, don't bash Smith & Wesson, I used own one before and theirs a reason why I choose to back. If the gun doesn't function 100% like it should, then back to factory it goes

Just found this thread....I own a 40c with Lou's carry trigger, the gun functions like a champ with Winchester and Federal ammo, and my lead reloads. Kicks the brass out a freaking mile and has never had a failure to feed after 800 rounds. What little I could see in the video, it looked like the rounds weren't angled going up the ramp properly. And my slide cycles normally, or what appears normal to me anyway. Hopefully it will get sorted out for you soon.
