I would like to try out a number of different Para Ordnance guns before I buy one. Does anyone know of a place that has a good selection of PO guns that can be rented?

I have a P-10 Limited, a P-12 LDA, I think I might have a P-12, P-13, P-14 Limited, P-14 Signature, P-14 LDA...

If you're around, and I'm off work, we can shoot a few if you want.

Whoa! You have quite the collection there C-Pher. Yes, I would like to try some of those out. I will send you a PM to take this off-line.

C-pher,

You might be able to answer a question of Para. I am thinking of buying a S16-40. Do you know if the slide materials are all the same (Stainless) whether Black, brushed or polished?

The reason I ask is because I came across a PTX Covert Black S16-40 Limited, and would like to polish the sides of the slide to look like the TJ model. I don't want to do this if the slide is not stainless of course.

I'm starting to think Para is a bit lame. I have a Para CCW that ended up with a broken ejector after 700 rounds or so. The Dealer I bought it from told me to call Para, and have the part shipped to him. Called Para, and they wanted me to send it back. I told them about the Dealer, and they told me to have them call as it is a "safety issue". The Dealer called, and it's going to take THREE WEEKS to get the ejector to them so the Dealers gunsmith can install it. You have to be kidding me?!?!?! Three weeks for a part that can be shipped via USPS in 3 days?

Also note that out of the three Para's I've bought. I find them VERY finicky. My P14 has been the best of them all, but my P18-9 was never assembled from the factory correctly. I had to take it apart to assemble it correctly.

I had an aluminum P-13 that I bought brand new, went from the gun store directly to the range. The gun did not last 50 rounds of Winchester white box ammo before the frame cracked. I almost shit. I brought the gun and ammo back to the dealer. To make a long story short it took Para over 6 months to get me a replacement gun. I understand that shit happens. I was more pissed about how I was treated by Para then about the gun breaking. I have never bought another Para product and never will.6 months is unacceptable.

Wow, I've had to deal with Para twice regarding customer service.

One, the gun was having feeding and ejecting issues... I called them on the phone, got a RMA, sent the gun on Saturday overnight...had it back by that Thursday and it's been shooting great ever since.

Then, I was at the range, had a squib. As I was taking it apart, I let the spring cap fly onto the range... I couldn't find it...called Para and told them what happened and that I wanted to buy another one. They sent it for free.

So I can only tell you about my issues with Para, but unless they've changed in the past few years...me and two other people that I know have had nothing but good service from them.

My para was basically a piece of crap until I replaced every single internal part, had the barrel re-crowned by a gun smith, replaced the lousy-quality ambi and grip safties and replaced the barrel bushing.

Since then it has been a decent shooting pistol.

I had a C6 LDA and a P12 limited at different times. both were reliable and nice to shoot, but now I only like full size 1911's. And that LDA trigger is just strange to me. Anybody else not consider that a true 1911?

This has been my experience as well. I loved my 6.45 Covert Carry - it was easily the nicest, most reliable, most accurate compact .45ACP I have ever owned. The new owner feels the same way - he's elated. I never had to deal with any gun related issues - only a magazine issue and Para customer service was friendly and fast - sent me a new mag even before I mailed mine out.
