Hey everyone,
I just wanted to give everyone an update.
As you may remember I was moving from Texas to MA for my wife to attend BUMC.
We have settled in and we are in Quincy, MA. It is a "Green Town" and I have submitted all my paper work last Thursday for my LTC. I wrote a very professional explanation explaining that I have owned guns for years and I will be a law abiding citizen etc...
So I guess I will find out in a few weeks what I get.
Anyone else in Quincy get an LTC? Which one did you get?
Thanks,
Ron

Welcome to Taxachusetts. Did you have a CCW in Texas? If so it might help you get one here. Also what cool guns did you bring that we can't buy new here? Also I recommend you join GOAL.

welcome to MA and NES.

you'll be in for quite a shock when it comes to TX vs. MA laws but i'm sure you'll find that the folks here in this community are just as close if not closer than other shooters elsewhere in the nation.

I brought a Stoeger Cougar 8000, Remington 870, and a Ruger Mark III. I think only the Stoeger is on the "forbidden list." If I was smart I would have brought lots of Glocks new in packaging!!!!

QUincy should not be a problem like it used to be. My coworker is engaged to a city worker in Quincy and tells me the new chief is Pro-2A, which is good. He said they had tons of people asking for restrictions to be lifted once he came into office, and that they got it......

Welcome to MA! You should have stocked up on brand new H&Ks glocks, springfield xDs, et al!!! (with 10 rd mags of course [rolleyes])

If I had seen the prior post before you moved here, I would have upfronted a deposit to bring in some brand new glocks.

I just did a search on this forum. I never new there was a difference between buying vs buying with intent to sell.

i learn something every day on this forum [smile] and it also makes me forget something i probably shouldn't.....

Ain't government grand?

I am sure that you are only interested in purchasing those items for your own consumption and have no intention or arrangement informal or otherwise to sell them at this time... [thinking]

Just desperately trying to get my hand on a glock 26/27. Without paying an arm and a leg for a 600 year old firearm.

Welcome to the neighborhood.

Quincy will not be a problem for you to get a LTC-A. Just be aware that the new chief has a policy of NOT issuing unrestricted (CCW) LTC-As to anyone under age 25! [thinking]

But once you turn 25, he will lift the restriction if you request it. This is according to some folks in Quincy.

If you want to get a tour of Braintree R&P www.brp.org, just "give a shout" (Email off a post). There is a thread here on gun clubs that will give you lots of info on various clubs.

You can't move your firearms from your house/apartment until you get possession of your LTC, just so you know.

something that lands you in federal "pound me in the ass" prison

I heard if you go "inside" you could avoid the ass pounding by acting psycho, like I-slit-your-throat-for-looking-at-me psycho.

Of course that could make it hard to get parole, but it might work for Bernie???

We have settled in and we are in Quincy, MA.

My condolences on your new state, but Welcome, regardless!

NES has some great people and great get-togethers.

Beware of cameras at NES events, though. Anything that might be embarrassing eventually becomes a motivational poster. [shocked]

Welcome to Mass and the forum. NES is a great site with great people and tons of information. My only caution if you go green is, hang onto your wallet, (group buys exert tremendous force on any unspent funds or even funds you haven't earned yet!)

Like others have said the new Quincy police chief is a good guy. I received an unrestricted LTC from him the first week he was chief. I came real close to taking the old chief to court for denying me a license although I had a FID and had a completely clean record (not even a speeding ticket).[rolleyes] Fortunately for me he retired and the new chief took over during my appeals time.
I'm not so sure about the policy of giving restricted licenses to people under 25. I was 21 when I received an unrestricted license from him.
Anyways best of luck with your move and definitely check out Braintree rifle and pistol club (www.brp.org) it is the nicest local range in my opinion.
Oh, and welcome to the socialist hell that is Massachusetts.

Hello and welcome to Mass. Hope you find some enjoyment here - its not all as bad as we write... there is the sports teams right :p
