Walmart out of the Ammo business?

I'd love to buy in bulk online, but (1) I can't afford to drop $1000 at a time, and (2) when you add in shipping costs, smaller orders aren't any cheaper than local places.

As for the Mill.. I get there when I can, but it's an hour away, if you want to talk about time and gas.
If you're going to order a decent amount over a years time ts is great with the $99 plan. Free shipping and 8% discount. Easily pays for itself. I order often because of the free shipping part.

I know.. I guess I just don't shoot enough.. was thinking of joining with a few friends and placing bulk orders for all of us under one account, but that idea never got off the ground...

I probably shoot more than the average gun guy but nothing like some of the people on here. I'm also a hoarder.

This. I can't understand why anyone would buy ammo at walmart after the moment they quite obviously jumped the shark years ago. It was fun while it lasted but them days are over. Way over.

Friend of mine got me into shooting trap. WalMart had some crazy inexpensive prices on ammo for 12 gauge. But, I always order from TSUSA for everything else.

All you guys seriously waste time (both driving there and waiting for the guy to find the key) and gas to buy ammo at Walmart when you can buy this shit online? Or visit shops at the mill who have good pricing?

Almost everyone has better prices than Walmart.

Back 15+ years ago (maybe a bit longer), the Walmart near me (Rindge) would always dump all their ammo after hunting season, it would be marked down 60-80% depending on what it was. The wife of a friend of mine worked there and let me know when the "clearance" began so I wouldn't miss out. I still have dozens upon dozens of boxes of 308 (Remington, Winchester, and Federal hunting ammo, some of it loaded with premium bullets) that I paid $4-$6/box for, the same thing with anything else they had a bunch of, including 223, which I bought shitloads of as well on clearance. Those were great times, even my mother would call when she was going to Walmart to ask if I wanted her to pick up any ammo, I had her "trained" what to look for at what price. A couple times she picked up 20-30 boxes of 308 (I told her to buy every box they had if it was $6 or under), my mother would be so excited that she got a great deal on them for me. Good times 😆 .

Yeah I hear ya. I’m an hour away from the mill as well.

And NES will rush to support Walmart ... only to cry again in a few years when they stop selling again.

NES is like the girlfriend that keeps going back to her abusive boyfriend.

Even disregarding their membership (as discussed above) with TSUSA, cases always ship free. That means right now you could have 1000 rounds of brass case 9mm on its way to you for $245+tax or 2000 22LR for $120+tax...
