Not sure if this is the right formum so sorry if not.

For dry fire training an AR, it would be handy to have it recprocate the bolt and reset the hammer every time you pull the trigger just like the FATS traing system does (see link below)

does anybody know how the FATS trainer recoil system works ?
ideas how to convert an ar15 to one.
It seams like one could modify a bolt.
since the ar bolt is just a gas piston it seams like it would be easy to somehow put a puff of gas down the gas tub thereby opening bolt. this would be done with the drop of the hammer or a modified trigger.
seems like you could do it with out modifing the receivers or any part say except a junk bolt.

The whole idea behind dry firing is that you are trying to condition yourself to follow through without goofing the shot. Dry firing with recoil and noise goes against what you are trying to do with dry firing in the first place. Simulation on the other hand does utilize recoil and noise effects to simulate actual firing, but you loose the good things about dry firing. I think of simulation as simply shooting without the expense. Both are worthy for training, but definitely in different areas.

For dry firing, I have tried the SCATT system and was impressed. Noptel is another more expensive and fuller featured option.

Interesting on the SCATT system, that’s the second half of the final problem.
What I was hoping that somehow the weapon would get reset since recharging the ar is a pain in the azz when in the prone position. I guess it could be set up with a delay to recharge say after a second or so. I’m thinking of a micro switch behind the trigger to drive an air solenoid .

Bob is blind-we've heard the SCATT system provides audio feedback-we havent found anyone around here (Portland ME Area) who knows anything about it. Can you give us some pointers? Thanx
