What can you get with FID Card in 2024

Thanks for the clarification.

That’s a damn fine line BP primer vs standard primer for reloading. I have used them interchangeably for BP rifles but I don’t reload.
BP 209's are hotter but with a softer cup for easy ignition.
You don't want to use them for shotshell - they are magnum level or hotter. And you don't know how hot.

It seems like it’s challenging to come to a clear consensus due to the new law being so contradictory and poorly written ( my guess is on purpose). GOAL is working on trying to sort it out but even the 2 firearm attorneys who frequent this site have differing views to offer given the new language. In any event, if you cannot upgrade to a full LTC, tread carefully.

No, what classes of firearm you can possess with an FID is entirely clear in Chapt 135.

1193 (c) A firearm identification card shall entitle a holder thereof to purchase, transfer, possess and carry rifles and shotguns that are not large capacity or semi-automatic, and the ammunition therefore. A firearm identification card shall not entitle a holder thereof to transfer, possess or carry any other firearm including any large capacity firearm, any large capacity or semiautomatic rifle or any large capacity or semiautomatic shotgun except under the direct supervision of a holder of a license to carry firearms at an incorporated shooting club or a licensed shooting range.

2424 SECTION 153. A valid license to carry a firearm issued under sections 131 or 131F of chapter 140 of the General Laws, a valid firearm identification card under section 129B of said chapter 140 or a valid license to sell under section 122 of said chapter 140, shall remain valid until the expiration, suspension or revocation of said license and shall entitle the holder to possess the firearms authorized by the license at the time it was last issued or renewed.
