I am in the process of finding another gun to try out. I'm looking at primarily single stack guns 9mm/.45acp. One of the guns that I've always kind of had an interest in was the PPS. I don't know why but i think with the lighter trigger installed I may like it a little better than the Shield.

It came to my attention these things have either been sold out or on backorder for months. Have they been discontinued or has supply not caught up to demand? I almost got one 2 years ago and they were plentiful then. When they first came out, forget it you couldn't find one, now it seems to be back that way. Did the 9mm shield essentially kill it?

I was just curious. Other guns I'm looking at are the P9, XDS, and Shield. I have a PM9 which kinda got inherited, great gun but I figured maybe try something a little different.

**I should have put I haven't been able to find the MA model in stock anywhere or online. I've found them on gunbroker and a few in stock online but they have all been the standard model.**

Has anyone found a gunsmith that will work on them to reduce the god awful MA 10 lb trigger? My friend has one and has looked to no avail. This is why I bought a S&W Shield.

I'm serious please reply or PM me if you know a solution to the PPS 10 lb trigger and I am not smart enough to do it myself from the 2 year old post somewhere here.

Walther's contract with S&W ended and Walther set up shop in Texas I think. I think this caused a big slowdown of production. Just keep looking. They have a crappy MA trigger that is harder to fix than a shield. They do pop up in the classifieds now and again.

Oh ok, I wasn't sure. It's not like one of those guns where I feel like I have to have it especially where the Shields seem to be in stock now. I just think gun for gun the PPS may be better than a shield if you fix the trigger. I know there is the old thread on here Rep308 was talking about. I remember following it.

Four Season's website says they have 2 9mm, used. You just missed a deal in the classified with the S trigger disconnect. Darkhorse Gunsmith (a member here) will do the trigger work, with no problems. Most 10 lb trigger are 10-14 lbs. ship them the gun and get the work done.

Walther has setup shop in Arkansas.

mine was fine out of the box. I don't know what the trigger weighs but it is heavier than 5lb. Doesn't feel like 10. I shoot it well.

When I bought my M&P40 it had an 18lb trigger, no joke.

if you really need it fixed, call Greg Derr. He or probably any other gunsmith around can fix it.

For some reason, most gunsmiths in this region tell you politely to go screw when you bring them a PPS. Initially there were a few that would do these but they all suddenly stopped, like the gun has AIDS or something.. Apparently the gun is a bitch to take apart, or the parts are hard to get or something like that... or another possibility is something is easily broken. One guy on her said he tried to flip a gunsmith extra money (to the tune of $100 over what the guy normally gets) and he still wouldn't touch it.

Yep, without getting into names my regular Boston area smiths all said no thank you on this while they all say yes to work on the M&Ps

I have one. Love it. IMO definitely one of the nicest single stack 9mm out there. I would stack it up against my P7m8.

I did the trigger swap from the pics and the instructions on NES.
It kinda sucked. But it was definitely doable with a bit of patience some rudimentary tools a bunch of band aids and some beer..

Cant you cross the border and just buy one without the mass trigger?

On another note anyone near sw-nh is more then welcome to shoot mine if they are considering the pps in 9mm.

I could see the PPS as the new Bond gun.. Much mo better in Daniel Craig is almost as good a Connery way than the P99..

But, I digress..

This. I wanted one for a year but the more I read about them the more I learned to hate it. Sad, it's such a nice size and is as thin as hell. I know they make a lighter disconnector now but I wonder where it breaks. IIRC the MA trigger is around 17lbs [rolleyes]

After reading that tutorial, wow that looks challenging.

I love my PPS .40, I traded into it a couple of years ago and consider it the carry gun I looked 20 years for. I have mot seen any in stores around here though, come to think of it.

Posted from my car phone.

I found a dealer on this site who has one and. They ever offered to ship it to another FFL closer to me since they are a good distance away.

I haven't made my final decision yet but I think I'm going to go for it. I've always wondered about that gun. Even before I had my PM9. A friend of mine has had one now for a couple years. He has shot the hell out of it without any problems.

No, you can't buy a handgun from one state to another without using FFL's. MA FFL's aren't going to be willing to transfer a non MA compliant gun. Otherwise we here in MA could get any gun and that would be terribly unsafe.

I'd expect to see more Walthers on shelves, BTW. They seem to be getting more guns in the pipeline now that they are up and running under their own roof vs. S&W. Also seeing more mags and slightly lower prices for them.

No one answered but cant mass residents buy firearms in other states? As long as it is on mass approved list? You can just get one without m-disconnect then.

The non mass version does not meet CMR940 (AGs regs, 2nd tier of compliance) So you could import it, but you'd have to find a dealer willing to ignore CMR940. Good luck with that. Course in saying this, there are a lot of dealers in MA that if a PPS showed up in a carboard box they'd just transfer it without messing with the trigger to see which version it is.

This is true but then again if the FFL did check you're stuck with a gun at a dealer you can't have [laugh] The gun I found I verified to be the MA model for that reason. I'll have to install an S disconnect or live with it if I buy the gun.

My god the laws there are friggin stupid. You cant buy the gun without the heavy trigger but you can change it 5 minutes out the door.
