A 230 grain FMJ (.45 ACP) fired at a piece of ballistic plate glass came back
and hit me in the wrist. It stung like a bastard. At first the pain was
mild and I didnt notice it then it got a bit more intense, so I stopped
shooting. Felt like I had been stung badly by a bee. I moved my sleeve
up and a flattened 230 grain bullet fell out!
Basically, it left a slowly oozing, bloody circular bruise on my wrist, although I did resume
shooting that day, because it wasn't that painful after a couple of minutes.
I wish I had kept the bullet but it fell in the sand at the range and I could not find it.
The .45 ACP pockmarks is near the middle. I think the one low and to
the right of it might be a .45, too.
The ones that actually stuck into the glass were .40 S+W GDHPs.
"Kids, don't try this at home". Well, at least put it further downrange... or hide behind a barrier when shooting.
