Which complete upper for an AR-15 to choose??

Yes the birdcage is basically just for show, no the taper pins are not going to back out. (They are a HUGE pain in the ass to remove when you want to.)

Thanks. I'll give them a call and see what their lead time is (fingers crossed). This might be just the thing to keep me satisfied until my other upper gets here.

I got all my lower parts finally. Hoping to install them into my LRB lower in the next couple of days. Now, just need to stop acting like my wife, and choose an complete upper already.

Just pull the pins on your old upper, swap it with the Stealth, and begin shooting one ragged hole.
Answering the demands of today's precision AR-Shooter, we designed the Stealth Sniper System with ¾" 100-yard shot groups in mind. Exceeding our expectations, the Stealth has earned a great reputation for it's sub-MOA accuracy, with reports of consistent hits on 4" plates out to 400 yards with 77 grain Mk262 ammunition.
Assembled using our CNC-machined Stealth Billet Upper (LT-007) as the backbone, complete Stealth Uppers are available in 12", 16", 18" & 20" barrel-lengths with the LT handguard length of your choice. Complete Stealth Uppers come expertly-assembled and tested with Receiver, Free-float Handguard, Barrel, Low-Profile Gasblock and Tube, Mil-Contract M16 Bolt Carrier Group and Charging Handle.

White Oak is awesome also but my favorite AR I own is an LMT lower with a LaRue Stealth upper. You can order one with a pinned compensator to be mass compliant. They sell them and will pin and weld it.

I have a 50 Beowulf available. I just finished building it for someone who did not call me back this week to make arangements to pick up It is now for sale. SS Beowulf 18" barrel and muzzle brake with matching bolt and YHM mid diamond free float hand guard. $1100.00

Ive had good luck with my spikes and those prices are almost the same as i paid years ago. Nice to go with companies that arent gouging

I will likely go with them again on the code red build.

I have finally gotten to the point where I might be able to start buying stuff for my very 1st AR, and was wondering what are some really good companies that make complete uppers?

I know of Daniel Defense, BCM, maybe YHM, but not sure who else.

I don't want to spend $2k just on an upper, so I should say I would like to keep it right around or under $1k. So, whichever company is the nicest in that price range let me have it.

450 Bushmaster. [wink]

Let me know if you want to try mine.

Do the regular multi cal lowers take the thumper calibers like 450 bush, Socom, and 50 Beowulf? Id like to build a thumper on one of my next builds.

I've got several AR's in 5.56, registered as such. If I swap one upper to say.458 socom, do I then have to reregister it in this cal?

Why do you need to do that? Your serial no. on your lower stay the same, right? But, IANAL. I'm registered mine as multi cal.

Thanks Alfred. Thought so....

I like the idea of the 458 socom. But ammo price is a little silly. Even though i reload. Having a 1895m doesnt help justify it either

What's your budget?

Sent from an illegal communications device deep within the bowels of an illegal detention center, yeah I've been black bagged.

I guess I'll have to check how mine are registered. Would it be any different than putting a conversion barrel into a Glock?

You don't have to register if you convert calibers. Swapping an upper is a temporary conversion. In some cases, you can register the lower as "multi caliber"
I believe all my lowers are registered as 5.56. My next lower registry will be multi. That way I'm covered.
