Will there be a next Civil War?

No. People in this country will start nothing. You forgot that the new order is here already. You forgot about the real "revolution":

i agree, America no longer has the willpower to fight back against it's own oppressive government. generation " snowflake " has taken over and they are crying in their safe spaces.

Oh yeah, sure. Civilians at war against the government? Sorry, I don't have anything that can stop an A-10 or an F-15, or a M1A1.

I had an odd vision yesterday. An infantry unit is tracking insurgents and they launch a handful of small drones, maybe one foot in diameter. One of the drones has a camera and is controlled by a soldier wearing goggles who sees what the drone sees. The drones operate as a swarm with the secondaries following the lead drone. The swarm enters some woods a quarter mile from the infantry unit, locates an insurgent and drops down onto him in a cluster. Each drone carries a small grenade.....

Don't know quite where that came from.

Any future hypothetical civil war will be fought through ambush and sabotage, imho. The population will not tolerate life without bread and circuses.

This is different from 1776 how? Americans ushered in the age of guerrilla warfare, why should we stop?

I am not advocating civil war. I am certain it would be absolutely terrible and would probably devolve into the most epic bloodbath. I think it's irresponsible to discuss it here at NES. Now I will follow my own advice and shut up.

They will make sure that the cable stays on and the EBT cards stay loaded while they wipe out the constitution entirely. I sincerely doubt that any of us would recognize our nation in 100 years.
Its getting harder and harder to recognize it now. If the beast gets in, something will finally set things off.

The dystopic future has arrived, but instead of all the cool future technology we expected, we have unlimited porn and ChatRoulette. I'd rather have a hovercar and blaster, frankly.

At least the faceless, unaccountable, tyrannical 'government' arrived more or less as expected. And ironically, run by the people who predicted it was the other guys' doing.

Not in my lifetime.

Well, unless you've already got one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel, don't shit yourself into thinking it couldn't happen as early as tomorrow.
Plenty of damned fed up people in this country and plenty of lemming cops just itching to kill someone in the name of "law enforcement" to fulfill their ego trip.

My prediction is that it simply isn't going to happen. What happened at the various standoffs out west? Nada. A lot of people talk a big game sitting at their keyboards. At lot fewer people are actually going to go out and risk their lives.

I think civil unrest dissolving into societal collapse is way more likely than civil war.
This, with the result of portions of the country breaking off and doing their own thing.

As other counties start to drop the petrodollar, the stability of the dollar as the world reserve currency will begin to falter, sending ripples through the us economy. Couple that with an unsustainable welfare state with more dependents being created by the hour, as well as all the horrible economic policies and you have a ticking time bomb. Once it blows, the United States as a singular country is over and it will probably happen without a single shot being fired.

I highly doubt some grand and glorious revolution will occur in this country. Too many different groups with different interests and goals to come together on much of anything, let alone a violent overthrow of the federal government. It just ain't going to happen.

Will the civilian disarmament industrial complex's actions result in a new American revolution?

How's it gonna go down?

I think this nostrum of a civil war (minus some weird catalytic event like a huge terror attack that makes 9/11 look tiny) is a tinfoiler phantasm. The only way you're going to see something "dramatic" like a civil war is if we get a full on economic collapse, etc. EG, like Argentina or something.

Gun control will progress like it has in other countries, only more slowly and with more violence. It just simply isn't a big enough issue to enough people to make it some kind of revolutionary focal point. Most people would disarm. A lot of people would hide their guns and go about their business. Some people would fight against the police and get killed. Some groups would have standoffs and get killed. You'd probably see some southern states grumble about succession or something until federal funding gets cut off and then everyone's best friends again. The issue of brother fighting brother would never become a major problem because the number of civilians willing to violently fight against disarmament is relatively small. I don't see that kind of conflict going beyond a town level. And when it comes to a state without a gun owning majority you'd stand a good chance of getting turned in by someone before your revolutionary activities get too far.

I'm sure I'll get criticized for being a pessimist. I see the only chance to keep things from getting out of control is to fight gun control BEFORE it happens. Once something dramatic like large scale bans or confiscation starts it's too late.

And talking about Afghanistan or Vietnam sounds good on the internet, but how many people on gun forums, let alone their neighbors, are interested in spending the next 15 years living in a cave getting shot at by drones?

This, 100%. Door to door confiscation would trigger a war that the gov would lose.

The government will never lose unless enough LEO confront their Masters in place of blindly murdering their neighbors.

I can't think of a single instance in History where this has happened.

In Venezuela they STILL love the Socialists.

I doubt most of us would live 15 years.

Human nature and risk management dictates that we are constantly preparing for the last crisis. We all imagine(was thinking 'fantasize') an apocalypse in the Rawles or Holding Their Own model where we ride off into the sunset and fend off the hordes, but whatever reality arises may well be very different than that. The governments are working overtime to simultaneously control every aspect of everything and also prove they are unable to manage even their basic functions.

I honestly have no idea what the future looks like, but it looks to me like the government and media are working real hard to alienate me and make me conclude that the future is bleak.

The question would not be so much does the population have what it takes ,rather do the politicians.
Think your going to order troops to make war against American citizens and then ever go back to living anything that resembles a normal life?
I don't think I would care to live out my days scared shitless to walk by a window and pissing myself every time a car door slammed.

The beauty of it is that you don't give the directives yourself. Some faceless organization announces that door to door confiscation has been ordered, and when the shooting starts you go on TV talking about what a grave misunderstanding it was but that you don't know who is responsible, but since citizens are getting all violent and killing police, now you have to support confiscation - but only from troublemakers, of course

The people who would buy that line of crap wouldn't be the one's doing the shooting anyway.

This is why we need to hone our trap & skeet skills.[smile]

My gut tells me we are about to stumble off the edge because of a financial collapse and the .Gov wants as many of us disarmed as possible...

No compromise LOL, Do any of you remember the recent changes in mass law. Yeah, that wasn't a compromise. [rolleyes]

The Mustang's guns are long gone....[smile]
If this was a true civil war and the gov turned on the civilians I would think part of the military would turn on itself. That's why Obama has been purging officers.

I am biding my time. I build up my knowledge. I learn, acquire and watch. Some day my family and I will disappear. Where I don't know today but when the time comes we will know. They can cut all they want but if you can't reach me it can't hurt.

Know when to leave Dodge. I don't think there is another country to go to but there are still things to look into.

It sure as hell beats living in a culvert with a space blanket to protect you from the thermal.

No kidding. Talk about being on the losing end. America would be better off if secession wasn't made an act of war

This !!!!

Rwanda thought it was good too - and overnight people started dying by the thousands. In our case it won't be the Hutu & Tootsies, it will be the 'haves' against the 'have nots' and the politicians have done a great job of dividing and winding us up.
