2010 Election Notes

G

GOAL C.M.

Going through election results here from some of the MA state races;

Two races in particular are amazingly close, 3rd Bristol House which had a tally of 11, 377 votes and only a 47 vote difference!

Another extremely close vote was 6th Worcester House which had a tally of 13,164 votes and only a 2 vote difference!

Amazing, this is a great example of how every vote truly counts!

A couple of notes of interest from the MA House and Senate races;

* MA House of Representatives. Of the 160 total seats we have 77 with a grade of "B" or higher including 44 "GOAL Endorsed" seats. We also have 14 seats that are graded 90% or better on questionnaires, so things are looking up, this gives us a total of 91 seats that are pro 2A-Civil Rights! A nice majority.
* MA Senate. Of the 40 seats in the Senate we have 23 that are rated "B" or higher including 13 "GOAL Endorsed" seats; once again, we have a majority of pro 2A-Civil Rights seats in the MA Senate.
* Undecided Races; There are still 6 House races that are TBD

GOAL looks forward to the 2011 Legislative Season and will update with more information as it develops.

We're looking at that now and need to do a little more studying.

A quick snapshot shows we lost 10 seats that were either "A"s or "endorsed" (5 of ea.) and 4 "D" rated seats, but gained 14 seats with new candidates that graded 90% or better on their questionnaires.

We'll get more info out on this soon, it's still developing.

I remember hearing that GOAL would be reviewing their ratings for some legislators after last season's votes on Patrick's OGAM and GOAL's reform bills... have those changes in ratings been made yet?

Rich, we have most of them done and are still working on a few.

The legislators have made it very difficult to grade them lately as they are avoiding recording an actual vote in many instances.

This is yet another problem at the State House that needs to be addressed, and that we are working on.

... Lack of support should earn a 1/3 of a grade downgrade, in my opinion (B to B-, for example).
