Alternative to the Glock 19?

Just my quick input on the M&P. I have two. That's only because the other M&Ps I want are not MA compliant-otherwise I'd have more.

Once the trigger is fixed, it's the best plastic gun, period IMO.

I agree. Personally, I end up favoring Glock 9mm guns due to the availability of pre-ban high caps in Mass. In a free state I would go with the M&P 9. I own an M&P 45 and I think it's a better gun than the HK45 (heresy, I know). In fact, I am thinking of selling my HK45. The M&P line is very, very nice.

You should explore the S&W99 or Walther P99. Both come with adjustable grip inserts to fit any size hand. I prfer the ergonomics of the S&W99/WaltherP99 to the Glock's and their unique ambidextrous mag release is a plus in my mind.

The gun that is going to put all of those to shame is the new Ruger SR9c. I hear it has a new trigger that can not be retrofitted into the older SR9's, and feeds most anything well. And the SR9 felt better than most pistol to many people.

That is when/if they are ever available in this cesspool of Un-American corruption called Massachusetts, where the lowest forms of humans known to man control everything?
(where some people are willing to sell there soul's for a government check!)

You can buy an SR9c in Mass now. The SR9c with the same capacity as the Glock 26 is 1/2 inch longer, 1/2 inch taller, 1/10 inch wider, and 2-3 ounces heavier. Compared to the Glock 19 with 5 more rounds in the mag, the SR9c is the same length, 4/10 inch shorter in height, a couple of ounces heavier, and about a tenth of an inch wider.

The SR9c is also bigger in every dimension and slightly heavier compared to a S&W M&P9c, while holding 2 fewer rounds in the standard mag.

I haven't picked up an SR9c yet, but it would have to be very impressive to warrant its extra size and weight over a Glock or S&W M&P. Personally, the mag disconnect on the SR9c is enough to turn me off, but that's just my opinion.

I haven't seen one in MA yet, good to know there on both lists!

As for dimensions I guess it is a matter of if your looking for the smallest 'hide out' gun you can get, or a compact version of a full sized gun. And remember, the Ruger's dimension is taken from the outside edges of the ambidextrous safety levers which stick way out. Anyone who has actually handled a SR9 will agree that they are very slim....and balance well.

As for mag capacity, you can't get anything over 10 rds anyway new here. Finally we have a pistol designed more for 10 9mm rds that feels good.
Of course a Kel Tec PF-9 or P-11 (among others) puts all those compacts to shame strictly size wise.

What I hear is that the trigger feel of the new SR9c is MUCH better than anything in it's class! And the mag disconnect can probably be disabled or removed for those that don't care for it, but I am not sure.
The SR9c is my next pistol.

I guess the G19 I just got last year (basically LNIB) and preban 15 round mags missed the memo on that.

The SR9c is a VERY nice gun, for what it is... but it's not a G19, and it never will be.

Maybe you would be interested in my gen.1 Glock 17 w/ 2 17rd mags then, I just lowered the price!
(seeing the Ruger compacts are here in MA)

If the SR9c had a handle like a Glock 19 I wouldn't want it....the Glock 'hump' has no use for me, even Glock has redesigned it for it's Gen.4.
From what I have been told the SR9c and the newer SR9's have had any problems ironed out and some redesigning. Who knows, it could be better than a Glock!
After all, the Glock was designed to be a cheap dependable pistol....much less that a Sig or H&K.

Here's my alternative to the 19

I still shoot a Glock-17 in competition and carried a Glock-36 for quite a while. However, I prefer the ergonomics of the S&W 99 or S&W M&P line's. I carried a S&W99 and recently purchased a S&W M&P9PRo and M&P45.
