Before the Covid, BLM, and Biden panics I always like the 7.62x39 because it was a cheap alternative with more potential for a short to medium range hunting caliber for deer and smaller size game in very robust and reliable milsurp rifles like the AK and SKS as well as the nifty Ruger American bolt action. When AK prices started climbing after Obama, there was still the SKS, but now even those are $500 rifles. Top that with the massive cost for the ammo and I'm not certain it's worth anyone buying into anymore, not when the .300 BLK seems like its niche will never fade and I'm sure .350 Legend is going to find its way into a tactical role when subsonic ammunition for that starts getting made and that is even more capable for hunting than either 7.62x39 or .300 BLK is.Holy crap. $500 a case????? Damn. I'm sorely tempted to sell my entire platform (which I think is just a sidefolder Poly and the ammo and mags). It would make it easier to move next year for sure without lugging even more stuff. (NOTE: NOT SERIOUS - do not take this as an offer of sale!)
Wow!
I've never paid more than $12 for an AK mag either. ROFL!!! Back in the early Dark Days, you could still get AK mags from AIM for about $8 each. Circle-10's were $12.
I might be able to retire a few years early if I unload this now. LOL
That said, I have always been of the opinion that once you own something that you know and has proven itself to you to be an effective, trustworthy firearm that you are familiar and proficient with, there is no sense to dump what you have because ammo prices go up. I read that so many people once owned Tokarev pistols because the surplus ammo was cheap and they blasted thru all that ammo and once it dried up they dumped those pistols, which IMO makes no sense because they all put a lot of time behind the trigger and certainly became good with them.
I know you're making a joke, but there's bound to be people seeing the same thing we all are with 7.62x39 and all I can say is don't be hasty. I think all ammo prices are going to drop 25% in the next year or two and then it will be time to stock up because the pendulum is always swinging.
