Decided to wrap up tons of loose ends recently…I have an armalite ar10 that I got in the Aws group buy years ago. I have never fired it (long story) because I never got a chance to check it with a headspace gauge. What gauge do I need and does anyone have one that I can borrow? Thanks.

Get headspace gages in whatever caliber you have.


Is it common for AR platform barrels to be out of spec?

Dont these things go through QC from the manufacturer?

It’s not gauge for an AR10, that’s shotgun. AR10 rounds are measured in caliber. Probably 308. Shoot the darn thing.

AR's I'll typically just shoot. If you want to check use a field gauge for 308. If it won't close on that, you're GTG.
