Anyone know how to remove the barrel on one of these? It looks like it slides out the front but the front of the slide seems a tad bit too small.

Yeah I made it that far. I can get the slide off the frame but the barrel won't seem to come out of the slide.

According to that the barrel should just come out once the slide is removed (if i'm reading the poor french to english translation correctly).

Guess it's time to break out the hammer [smile]

If I remember correctly (I have one that I haven't touched in years), you twist the barrel one way to remove the slide from the frame and then the other way to remove the barrel from the slide.

If you get that far, be careful about removing the firing pin spring. If it slips out of your fingers it goes flying across the room and get's lost in the carpet.

RKG is correct, lock the slide back about 1/4", turn the barrel so the grooves are seen in the ejection port, release the slide while controlling it and the slide will come off the barrel, rotate the barrel to the original position and it will slide out the front.
I never had a problem with removing the firing pin spring, though I've always done it with the gun uncocked, just slide it out of the groove using your thumbnail.

I've gone through 2 sets of pearl grips, they always crack. I replaced the last set with a cheap copy of Baby Browning grips and it seems much better, plus the gun is slimmer.

I tried removing it from the front but it's like something is keeping it in there. I'll try a little bit of gentle force :)

No force is required. But you may have to use a little body English to get the lugs lined up with the groove.

If all else fails. consult with a good gun smith. My favorite smith is my friend, Greg Derr, of www.derrprecision.com. Greg is a dealer member here on NES, and a good man.

Normally i'd say that's a good idea but I paid $100 for this thing years ago. No way i'm sending it away to get worked on. If I break it then i'll give it up for some groceries next time they do a gun turn-in [wink]

Hold out for the Wal-Mart gift card and get some ammo...[grin]

Nice :)

I actually got the barrel out tonight. The front of the slide on the inside must've been just slightly too small or had a burr or something that was holding the barrel up. I hit it real quick with a fine hand file and it came right out.

Now on to filing & polishing to try to make this thing feed right.
