Apparently, not at the VA at Jamaca Plain. Walked feeling like I wasn't committing a felony, walk past the face diaper handout booth, heard "You must mask up"? Really? So I diapered up like a woke Karen and walked on. VA dental was hilarious some fat, triple masked, Asian woman making sounds like a farts in a bathtub yelling out something, God only what, that went on for 15 minutes. The Vietnam Marine across from me and I just looked at each other like what the eff did we just see-over?

Met one of our own at the VA clinic, @Tay_Ninh 66. We had lot in common both in Country and out, but I'm sure he'd deny it, if asked...lol

It might be the "law," but here in FL the only healthcare place I've been to so far that requires masks are the VA. I went to the dentist yestarday not a mask in sight until they are working on your teeth which is where they traditionally wear masks.

The VA has gone pretty much insane over the past few years. The last appointment I had they asked if I was a transexual and what I identified as and then all the American flags they had on the walls were replaced with the gay pride one. I mentioned all this weirdness to the nurse taking my vitals and she said they all hate it but the feds jam it down their throats.

All of this garbage is done intentionally.
 
I had to return to the clinic for a follow up today. Mask sign was still up with everyone masked. I asked the clerk if he knew about them dropping the policy, he said they found out yesterday and local powers at be don't like it. He gave me a thumbs up for no costume.

So weird. I'll probably get yelled at by someone else we'll see.
 
Well, another classic VA event.

-2 weeks ago saw primary care who referred me to a specialist the following week
-Following week I was called the day of the appointment due to the doctor being out sick and rescheduled to today
-Today I go and I am seen by the incorrect doctor in the incorrect clinic because the person who does scheduling messed it up
-Rescheduled for tomorrow
- VA called shortly after I left to reschedule again for next week

Boy do I miss private insurance. No one said anything about the mask being off so there's one plus.


When I was leaving they had new cards at the scheduling window stating "don't be a no-show, there's 6 million appointments per year that are missed." I just laughed. Every time I go to the VA they are backed up beyond belief. Imagine if those 6 million didn't no show?

Would this be the Tampa VA?
 
I’ve been going to Bay Pines and the clinic in Sarasota and the dental in Bradenton and have no general issues. Live in Venice so I use the community care system which does take time to get an appointment. The community care takes about two weeks to get the appointment needed. I can say I went through radiation in North Charlotte and got great treatment and now cancer free for the second time. Besides that now getting the shoulder done (rotator cuff tear again) locally at the Sarasota Memorial here in Venice. Trump made it easier for vets to get treatment and I’m happy about it. The one thing I’ve noticed in the VA system and I know I’ve been in it since 1978 is that they don’t make it easy. Once you get past the bullshit bureaucracy and the treatment is very good. I had my prostate removed in the Roxbury VA and the surgeon taught at Boston University.
 
One of the nice things living away from everything is that I don't have a convenient VA near me. Every now and then my skinflint comes out and I think about signing up with them to get cheap care. Then I decide, "naaaah - not worth it", and that was when I was living in Mass and had access to them. Now that I'd have to travel almost 2 hours - no way.

From where you're at you've got a pretty straight shot to the Littleton clinic and then down to WRJ for specialty stuff.

The VA will pay you mileage. It may take 4 or 5 months to get it, but they will eventually pay.

Best thing about the VA is the free meds dropped right in your mailbox.

They also do community care. For example, I go to a non VA dentist in Littleton on the VA's dime.

I miss the Boston/Bedford pharmacy, they were pretty quick. Here it takes over 2 weeks to have medications arrive after they are ordered which sucks. They can expedite it but some doctors act like they have to personally pay for that service.

The Manch pharmacy is pretty good. Usually in the mail the next day. If it needs a doc to renew the prescription, maybe the day after.

Once I move, I'll have to switch all my stuff over to the WRJ pharmacy as that is who the Littleton clinic is affiliated with.

Pretty much every medical facility requires masking. My advice would be to just play the game and wear the damn thing.
 
Medical facilities in MA are required to use and require masks by the Dept. of Public Health. That said federal facilities are not licensed by the state, so it likely a federal rule.
