I said oh black betty (bam-A-lam)
whoa, black betty (bam-BA-lam)

Ana glad to hear that you are unhurt!

Hopefully S+W will make it right. Did you save the box of the factory
ammo? Depending on circumstances S+W may blame the ammo manuf, but
usually one way or another your gun will be repaired.

define blown up please

I'll chime in since I was standing next to the shooter when it happened.

Loaded three rounds of R-P 125gr SJHP (R357M1). The shooter fired one round (which sounded normal) then said, "The gun is jammed". I was able to open the cylinder and saw that the frame below the forcing cone was cracked, and the barrel shroud was loose. The barrel looked fine, it had just partially broken out of the frame. There was nothing in the barrel before the shot.

Damn that sucks, you hate to think that these things can fail on us but it certainly does happen. Glad to here the were no injuries. On good note S&W should take care of you no problem.

Good catch - glad you were not hurt.
Glad you brought this to the boards attention - the link provided a few posts up sure makes me want to go home and take another look for reassurance.

Holy crap Ana - I'm so glad you're okay. Will be interesting to see S&W's take on this and I'm also sorry for the loss of your revolver...I've never had a kaboom, (knock on wood), but can imagine that it scared the crap out of you...Again - glad you're all right.

I'm glad you're ok. Did you use mostly 125 grain loads in that gun? Looks like the common denominator between your gun and the one in the link posted. I've heard bad things about running 125 grain loads, so my 340 M&P has been fed hot 158 grain loads. I think I've got about 1K plus rounds through it, but does give me something to think about. At least the failure doesn't seem to make them 'nade.
