went out scouting the woods out behind my house, and I noticed 2 things right off.
1. there's a LOT of storm damage
2. ALL of the little streams and swamps are bone dry, not even mud.
this is the 1st time I've wander around out back since the spring, and there were several high wind / torrential downpour storms that came thru here mostly late spring, and they have taken down a lot of 6 - 9 inch hardwood trees, lots of good firewood for me this year at least.
all the fruit trees are packed though.
I haven't seen this many apples on the trees in a long time, and my blue berry field was packed earlier in the summer.
lots of scat and tracks from all sorts of animals, both large and small, so should be a good hunting season this year.
