I currently possess an FID card, and I wanted to make sure my legal reasoning was sound

As an FID holder, I can possess a .22 Henry Lever Action that holds 15 rounds because…

Lever guns are excluded from the high capacity definition due to not being both semi auto and able to accept a detachable mag

As an FID holder, I’m prohibited from possessing any large capacity feeding device. LTC holders can possess these if they are pre 94’. Tubular .22 magazines are specifically exempted from this definition in M.G.L.

My only confusion I have is I have heard some people say FID holders can’t have a rifle with over 10 rounds (despite tube fed .22s being exempted from capacity restrictions). Is this an actual specific restriction or are these people just misunderstanding what the term “high capacity weapon” is?

Please correct me if I am wrong or let me know my logic is correct

Sounds like you answered your own question, not even sure what you are asking.

IANAL, but .22 lever action rifles with tube magazines are fine to posess if you have an FID.

However your life might be easier (in MA at least) if you just get an LTC

Right. Tube fed 22s are exempted. People talk about "greater than 10 rounds" and drop the exemption because it's cumbersome in general conversation.

Assumes he can (e.g., might be under age).
