CLEVELAND (AP) -- Cleveland's mayor called on the state Monday to create a new law that would prohibit anyone under age 21 from possessing a firearm.

Mayor Frank Jackson's proposal followed the shooting death last week of a 12-year-old girl who was hit by a stray bullet as she walked to a corner store. He noted that police statistics from 2004 to 2006 show 70 percent of those arrested for crimes involving firearms were under 28.

Under Ohio law, no one under 18 is permitted to purchase a firearm. A person must be at least 21 to obtain a permit to carry a concealed weapon.

And of those people who were arrested, how many of them aquired their guns legally?

If the answer is "None" or a number close to that, we have a Do-Nothing law on our hands, that just screws law-abiding citizens.

But I think that's the point, isn't it?

This will go nowhere fast. Jackson is a dumbass and no-one in state government who is not from Cleveland has any respect for him.

His shithole of a city is out of control and he continues to attack legal gun ownership. Even the CPD union has refused to enforce municipal gun control ordinances since gun law pre-emption passed in March, in defiance of the mayor. The union lawyers know full well that CPD cops are wide open for civil rights violation lawsuits and false arrest lawsuits if they try to enforce void ordinances.
