Yikes, that reddit link provided the exact horror I was expecting from the general public that thinks everyone that carries is Wyatt Earp looking for the next opportunity to shoot someone.
These are NOT my quotes or statements, from the link:
I also carried for 15 years. It made me overly paranoid and unnecessarily anxious in public places.
The chances of you saving your life with that firearm are smaller than the risk that you'll eventually use it on yourself.
The irony in it all is that being armed makes you far more likely to die in a robbery then someone who never bothered with self defense.
Two examples of buffoonery that permeates in the non-firearm community. Carrying a firearm gives me a chance that I am able to make, rather than depending on someone else's charity to not assault or shoot. Seems that most people forget that you can do everything correctly and sometimes you still don't come out on top, but at least you have a chance.
It always seems to be about the guy that that defends himself. I don't know the whole story, but the original aggressor bears most of the blame here. Should he have shot, probably not, but original aggressor chose the path that directly led to them being shot. He could have walked away and it never would have happened. Always gets turned into gun owner should have walked away.
