The clearer the plastic the more brittle it'll be and the more likely it will crack. Even on these clear mags, the high stress/impact piece, the baseplate, isn't clear. This is a general rule. Yes, opaque plastic CAN be brittle, but clear plastic can't be made as impact resistant as opaque plastic can be.
