Deals and steals

In case you get lost? Do they have a GPS built in or something?
3 shots evenly spaced apart was taught back in the day as a signal for help. I guess my hunter safety course covered stuff like that since cell phones weren't a thing.

not sure what the value of the pouch is. Most of the time, you hunt until you get one animal. One shot is all that's needed, plus 2-3 in case you missed vital organs and need a couple of shots to end the struggle. The only reason for carrying more than what's in the rifle is if traveling overland for many days and need to feed the group.
why do people turn simple hunts into some kind of Predator, American Sniper, Mad Max safari?

Because we can!

three shots to sight in your hunting rifle, three shots in the rifle, fourteen in the pouch in case you get lost.
If you hunt the way i do, you never get lost.

Step 1. Drive around until you see a deer (or something like a deer that could be yummy)

Step 2. Stick the rifle out the window and shoot the critter (the window was already rolled down to let out the cigarette smoke amd beer cans)

Ster 3. Drive over to the dead critter and toss it in the truck.

Step 4. Head to the bar and brag about my hunting skills to get a few guys to buy me a round or two.

I get emails from Aim Surplus all the daily.
I wish they would include these in the emails.
They send out daily emails and it’s just crap products with hints of 5% off which I couldn’t care less about. They should be sending photos like this and say hey buy our shotguns.

No offense, but still light years cheaper than the Tacticool Kitanica pants. Hell, you could buy 5 pair of these and enough RIT dye to make them all black and still have money left over for dinner with the wifey versus a pair of Kitanica's. ROFL!!!

As far as the 870's, it's not THAT great of a deal. You still have to ship it and FFL it - maybe another $60. Then you'll need furniture. You're either going with a nice wood stock if you're gonna go birding with it or you'll go with a FAR nicer tactical stock if you're leaving the short barrel on it. Anywhere from $150-250? Now you're up to 700-800 for a used 870.

You COULD go birding with it with the orange stock. Well, maybe do trap or skeet. Then you're talking $460. Not a terrible deal. But this isn't like that guy - Mike's Guns or whatever that was selling trade-in Glocks 15 years ago for hundreds less than ANY mASS dealer. You could get a 19 or 17 for $350. Back when there were 8 Glocks for sale in teh whole state and the starting price was $600.

I bought one and the dealer was peeved. Told him he could just buy the guy out and sell them all at a slightly discounted price and make a pile of $. That seemed like too much work for him but he was mad that I wasn't going to play his "hey, you should just pay me to sit around" game.

This deal/BCG any good? If not, what's better?

They have a chrome option as well. I'm not a fan of the NiB myself. I don't think you can do better than microbest either.

I have heard microbest are great bcgs. I’ve been using the ones from Grid Defense and it’s subsidiaries for 5 years with zero issues. Of course they are not made for desert storm 2.0 but for the casual shooter and mag dumper they work great.

Looks like 4 choices:
"nitride+" vs. "phosphate+"
then the chrome mentioned, and the Nickel Boron.

Is any one of these outstanding above the others, or way below? Or is it all gimmickry, smoke and mirrors?

Very much personal preference and research required before purchasing. If the Grid units are solid for plinky purposes. Buy em up, thanks for tip @DJBrad. I've had the ghost website bookmarked for a good bit.

Every brand can and will have issues at some point. So don't write off a cheap brand over a sample of 1.

For reference and entertainment.

Yup, that vid is key for what bcgs are best. Of course they are the chrome Colts from Vietnam! 😂

If applied correctly, it’s superior to chrome. The same goes for DLC and many other coatings. Chrome is how many decades old technology? This guy really doesn’t know what the hell he’s talking about. Doesn’t do any actual measuring (dimensionally, hardness, surface finish, scratch resistance…etc), just his feelings. Super scientific.
