I had this one in the box-O-knives I have in the corner that I bought on the bay years ago. I had dismissed it for a frankenknife or fake with a smallish looking clip blade. The ebony looked like plastic or something as it was so shiny with grime or it was burnished where you couldn’t see the grain. The blades looked peculiarly clean also and I just clean anything I pick up that‘s old, i don’t mess with the patina or finish I pulled out out and decided to take a closer look. I cleaned it again and I went a bit further with polishing it because it was already half assed done already. The most the web turned up was late 1800’s, early 20th century. That’s about it for information that I have. After cleaning it up, the main blade isn’t really smaller for the knife. It just has about 1/8 of the belly sharpened off. Being the main blade it would have most of the wear. I took the buff marks out and the steel is decent Solingen steel. Back when they pinned the shield to the scales. Ebony and rat tailed bolsters. Oiled up and it’s in my pocket.I think it might end up on my favorites list. If anyone has any information on E-C Cutlery please let me know. Whoever owned it took good care of it like a loyal companion. If you look at the sheepsfoot blade you will see an inclusion where it had a forge line. Makes me like it even more.
