Who carries a fixed blade in their pocket. I'm on the market for a new knive. I have plenty of flippers, I'm looking for a fixed blade.

Thus far, I'm considering the:
  • EESE Izula II
  • Bradford Guardian 3
  • Evans Companion
I'm leaning towards the Guardian, maybe the Izula II, any other suggestions?

Fixes blades are best for belt carry. There isn’t any good way to pocket carry one that I am aware of.

I have a few Esee knives, but they are stored in my backpacks. Maybe look into a sheath for scout (horizontal) carry and take it from there. Pocket carry is for folders.

That's fair. You make good points, but I really don't want to belt carry. I thought about scout, that work best, but I don't like the idea of walking around with a weapon behind me.

I'm in an office and pocket is inconspicuous , compared to a belt.

I want to buy a fixed blade, I just don't want it sitting in my drawer. I would like to carry it and I figured pocket.

Also, I was already set to find or have a custom sheath made that was slimmer and more comfortable in the pocket. Most of these bleads are coming standard with plastic or kydex sheaths. I really dislike them

Something like this

Wow these are really nice

I’ve bought a couple custom sheathes. Ever knife sheath I’ve tried seems to have been made by someone who never actually tried to f***ing carry in and draw a knife from the sheath.

Most just come off your pants when you try to draw the knife. None of them, not a single one, actually allow you to conceal the fixed blade well and allow you to draw it.

My Behring sheath does. That's a company whose employees do carry, and they partner with a sheathmaker who knows what they're doing.

But of course you pay a lot for that. Great product, but like I said, I'm not sure it's all that advantageous over a folder for me. Especially considering the price. I bought it to use as a skean dhu with a kilt, and it's perfect in that role.

White river m1 is a very nice knife that is similar to an izula. It comes with a nice sheath and you can easily remove the belt mount piece.

Duluth had them something like 40% off last fall. I bought one for my oldest son’s first knife. I liked it so much I bought 4 more - one for me and one for each of my other kids.

For a small blade, crkt make one called the tailbone. The handle is Para wrapped over a bike chain type material. So it bends as you move. Has a finger hole and it's pretty steady. At least for opening boxes and stuff. Definitely a thinking outside of the box idea anyway.

I love pocket carrying fixed blades and it’s really very easy and practical with the right sheath. I don’t know what your budget is, but that will factor in a lot.

For something like the Izula II look at deep carry concepts or utiliclip to add to the factory plastic sheath.

For a much higher budget you can look at JooFuu leather sheaths.

Lately I’ve been very impressed with Angler Knives for pocket carry and their own deep carry kydex.

Today it’s a Gibson necker in kydex in the pocket.

Amtac advertised as a fixed blade pocket carry. I don’t know anything about them, and $500 is a lot to spend.

Depending on where/if you carry a pistol, appendix scout (front scout) can work really well for shorter fixed blades. I’ve had great success with Bowman Knives Meadowlark in this capacity.

How do all those ridges feel in your hand?

I think the textured grip an improvement over a smooth handle scale. This was the first knife I have with the textured grip, but now I look for that in a knife, at least in an edc. Maybe if I was using the knife for 6 hours straight I’d feel different but I can’t make that judgement because that’s not how I use knives.

If you’re interested in Bowman knives, he’s in IG or Jason at Ridgerunner sells them: Bowmanmade Knives Archives - Ridgerunner Blades

I highly recommend one of Tkell knives in whatever profile you like. Knife and sheath quality are excellent. His sheath has NO fat on it.

After I received the knife I added a Discreet Carry Concepts HLT Gear clip, and have it aligned with my pant line and carry it appendix, next to my pistol. If you wanted to pocket carry you could move the clip higher so that it sits deeper in your pocket - see image with green circle.

One of the downsides of pocket carry is you could accidentally cut your pocket on the draw.

Discreet Carry: HLR Gear Clips

EDIT: Another option for pocket carry would be to remove the clip and just carry it in the sheath. Once you clear your pocket you can push the sheath off with your thumb.

The stroup bravo5, or mini is a good option. Tucks away really nicely. And good draw too.
Also, the shivworks clinchpick is a great option.

I carry the Amtac Minuteman daily in the Amtac pocket Firesheath. Huge fan so far, have had it since last November. IMG_3505.jpeg
