Gas tube roll pin sheared?

So how did all this end up? I am curious because I need to decide because I am going to go in on the group buy lower and need to decide if I will get the LPK at Remsport, or go to Acme for the Rock River one. Also good to know as I was considering Remsport for the future upper and barrel, but I am certainly not married to them by any means. The only thing I can say is that Remsport seems to be a full stop shop, and also stands behind their stuff. It is just some issues like this that get me concerned.

I returned my barrel to Remsport for a refund. I've since bought other things there, just not barrels. I still have one of their other barrels but it's set up on an Osprey Defense piston where the oversized gas port isn't an issue.

If they use the same size port on all their barrels regardless of length, I probably wouldn't hesitate to buy a 20" if the price is right. I believe .093" is correct for a 20".

Remsport's LPK seems to be very good quality, I have one installed in another build.

Meh, I use one of their barrels and haven't had any problems, and the Remsport lower has survived probably close to 100 rounds now. Of course, that's 100 rounds of XM33 or equivalent.

100 rounds! Wherever did you find so much ammo? That's a cache for sure! [wink]

I've no problem with any other parts from Remsport, I still have two of the NES group buy lowers from them and they're very nice. I just won't be buying any barrels from them with oversized gas ports.

If nothing else, Remsport stands behind their product. Every time I see any complaint, he comes on and will either make it right or refund. Gotta give credit for that. Sometimes branching into new areas has a learning curve, and having a local guy with this much flexibility is something we should support and encourage. Most if not all stories involving them seem to come out OK in the end.

John's a nice guy and yes he does stand behind his product. I just don't know why he makes his gas ports so large... I understand that an oversized port may make the gun run with even the crappiest underpowered ammo, but with normal ammo it makes for too much pressure.

I have some of one installed in my AR. The trigger and hammer pins were ridiculously out of spec, and were so loose in the lower that I'd have to reassemble my FCG every 90 rounds or so.

Interesting. That has not been my experience, but I will plan on taking that lower out soon and will report back. Is it possible the holes on your lower were out of spec?

I actually had pins (not Remsport) pop out during a match at New Bedford about two years ago. Second stage of the day, run to the barrels, fire the first two shots then the trigger started flopping. Figured it out quickly, torqued the trigger and pin back into place, finished the stage, and switched guns.

Putting your gun back together while shooting sucks.

It is possible, I suppose, but highly unlikely given the manufacturer, and the fact that the pins i put in work perfectly.

Yes. Yes it does.

The lower I have the LPK installed on has a slide fire on it now, so if anything will shake them loose that probably will [smile]

I'll let y'all know what happens next time I get that one to a range.

Since I said I'd write back when I had some info... I haven't had any hammer or trigger pin slippage and I did some mag dumps with a slide fire stock. So I'd probably buy a Remsport LPK again.

Thanks for the positive words in your post.

We do not manufacture the pins in our kit so anything is possible. It doesn’t matter because we will stand behind our LPK. If anyone has a problem with any part in our kit please contact me. We have sold a lot of these LPK parts (kits) to other companies and we have a very large German company we sell thousands of lower parts to and have had no negative feed back or problems with our parts. Some of the parts you are getting in other kits may even be ours. The larger port on our barrels is due to a the fact that we produced these barrels for another company under contract and this was there spec.. We just over produced while we were set up so we would have our own stock without additional set up costs. This is why I can price a 416R stainless steel barrel for a price that won't empty your pockets. We have sold hundreds of these barrels with only a few isolated end user problems, and after inspection I am not sure they were really caused by a barrel problem. It really doesn’t matter we will stand by all our products.

That last bit is what keeps me buying stuff from Remsport. I had an issue that started this thread, and while we may disagree about the cause, you made things right for me.
