Samson released their AC556 style gas block

I was looking hard for a gas block sight but ultimately ended up with a rail. Now I need to grab a factory front to finish my build. Here she sits in its current configuration. I’ll get around to refinishing the stock eventually… or go Sampson folder 08C8B938-5F6F-4E6F-9A9C-4B0CC5347CAB.jpeg

Give it a try. It’s one of those guns that I just enjoy to shoot. My upgrades were a labor of love. I could’ve sold mine and got a new ranch for cheaper than I have invested but my 182 series is from 1981. Same as me.

Look at a few over the years never took one home. Now I want a SS ranch now after reading people's comments.

I just invested in a Mini 14 Samson folder. The price was right and it seems like a very solid and well engineered product
Should be, supposed to be the same tooling. I scored a genuine Ruger folder back at the last show in Concord, almost dropped when the guy gave be the price. Even told him it was worth more. But he just wanted to get rid of it. There deals at shows. It was even still in the original box.

Good price my deal he has 2 in stock now a blued one and SS one both have plastic stocks . I just ordered a brand new over and under Beretta 686 sporting 20 gauge. My deal said he can order me with the wood stock their in stock so I have too save up the cash.

Coincidentally, I was randomly daydreaming about the Mini14 yesterday. I really liked it, but I could not get over the horrendous magazine system and the stock rear sight (both potentially solvable). Other than those two issues, Mini14 is such a fantastic plinking 556 rifle. Outstanding trigger, balanced weight, soft recoil, classic looks. I used to bring that thing to bowling pin shoots and my inner-John Wick comes out of nowhere.
If I went back to it, I would stick to 10rnd mags only and upgrade that rear sight asap.

That's NOT a Mini-14..... That's an AC556. Selective fire, semi, 3 round, and full giggle.

Close enough for the thread. Even if it were a mere Mini-14… I’d have to say it is the best one I’ve seen.

Replacement rear sights are available.

Unfortunately the newer 581+ series lack the ability to upgrade the sights as nicely as the older 181+ series. The trade off being the newer series has the heavier tapered barrel less prone to barrel whip. The accuracy issues with minis are due to them being over gassed slamming the operating rod harder than necessary and overheating the barrels. Replacing the factory gas bushing or installing an adjustable gas block dramatically reduces the issues as does installing a 1911 buffer pad behind the operating rod. It is mind blowingly stupid that Ruger never made them STANAG magazine compatible when they redesigned the receivers for the 581+ series.

Now that Ruger is making models to the government barrel configuration again, with or without Samson Manufacturing's version of the original folding stocks, the magazine issue, cheap rear sights, and the stupid factory over gassing issue are the only things holding the series back.
