Hi all,

Looking for Gun Friendly eye doctor at NorthShore.
Lots of people on this forum recommended @Idoctor, Dr. Ginszurg from Natick, but seems like he is not practicing any longer.
Any recommendations greatly appreciated.

Agawam Eye Associates on Rt.1 in Rowley, 500' North of my work. I've been going to this place for years. The owner Peter is great. He's had a few different Optometrist's over the years. I always saw Dr. Leader and she was great. I have my eyes tested about every two years. About three years ago I showed up to see Dr. Leader and Peter says "I'd like you to meet Dr. Bob Bonfiglio, he's a gun guy too". He asked my what I carry and I pulled up my shirt to reveal an empty holster. I told him my G21 was in my safe at work. I usually disarm before I go into Medical type places. Then I pulled up my pantleg and he said "Is that a Seecamp". I've seen him once since. He's a very cool guy. I believe he's written some articles for some gun publications.

Their link on Google Maps is corrupted, it comes up some Beauty Supply Place in Singapore. I'm not on Facebook but this is their Facebook link; Agawam Eye Associates | Rowley MA

It's possible they haven't updated their website, but he's still listed.

Stu Ginsberg is my doc, and practices at Burlington eye just inside mall. 781-229-0909
He is great and takes his time with you
Another happy customer of @Idoktr

Someone you can have an open discussion with about prescription eye protection, fiber optic and optic colors, focus distances, etc.
Is there something unique about shooting that a regular eye doctor may not now readily, like a specific lens focal distance?

For those of you that have gotten perscription shooting glasses, how does the script work? I normally wear progresives to correct for both near and far. All the sources online seem to be for single vision lenses. I imagine if they're set up to focus on the sights, then the target is blurred and vice versa. Are different glasses needed for rifle vs pistol vs shotgun??

Bump. I have the same question. Hoping for answers.

I shoot shotgun for clay sports and for close to 40 years wore progressive glasses. I was not shooting for years due to work and when I restarted wore my progressive glasses. found my head moving up and down to focus on clay target. No Good. got distance only lens for shooting shotgun, that worked for me. in pistol shooting, tried my progressive glasses and my distance shooting glasses. Progressive seemed to work for pistol for me, that was when I took classes at Sig. I figured when shooting pistol you are not going to be yelling "TIME OUT" when changing glasses.

slightly off topic, but i have had minimum strength glasses for driving about a year. usually just use them at night. but i was finding difficulty in seeing 100 yard targets using iron sights.

i had money left on my benny card last year, so i ordered safety glasses with this scrip to use at the range. optometrist asked what i did for work that i needed distance safety glasse for..

i told her i needed them for use at the range. she asked where i shoot. i told her, and saw a frown on her face. turns out she bought a house near said range, the realtor didn't tell them there was a gun club nearby. 😀😀😀

Who cares if your eye doc is into guns? I didn't, until I went to Dr. Ginsberg last year. He's the one who told me to get a green dot instead of a red dot because of my astigmatism - boy did that make a big difference. I'm sure he's got tons of good advice for anyone needing eye correction and how it might affect their particular style of shooting.

Just a very happy customer here.

It's gonna be a sad, sad, SAD day when Stu retires. :(

Been going to one of his offices since around 2001. Been seeing Stu for at least 15 years now. Most of those going to the Burlington location. I just do my best to time my visits to NOT be when the mall is swamped (so not around the winter holidays).

Always good to talk about latest guns purchased, or hear about where he's been shooting (competitions and such), or where he's going to next.
