Gunshots in Maynard?

I've been hearing gun shots on & off for about 2 hours, but I'm about 40 miles away from Maynard. It's not unusual in this neighborhood. (No, I'm not in Mattapan.)

Funny, I heard 4 pops at 4 AM this morning as well. I don't know why I woke up then. Maybe there were more before that which stirred me from my sleep, but they didn't register. Sounded like they were about 1/2 to a mile away. I'm not in Maynard, though, but South of Worcester. My guess is a cop got called to kill a raccoon or finish off a road-kill.
