Hammer Fired Pistols for CCW?

Another vote for the 229. Personally, no other handgun has fit my hand better than this pistol. extremely reliable, and awesome to shoot

If you like full size, FNX-9. Awesome gun.

I want one too but apparently they're heavy as ****. Or a school bus as Mike puts it.

No, it doesn't. It's like 31-33 ounces unloaded or something. A steel 1911 is about 38. A P220-ST weighs a few ounces more than a typical 1911 does (40+) so in that regard, you're right about the weight, if it was a P220-ST that was in the comparison.

The P229 is an effing school bus though. So even though it's not as heavy as a 1911 is, it's dramatically more difficult to conceal due to its width.

New S&W - Putting it up for sale. just doesn't fit my hand with my arthritic thumb. Damn. Great gun. For sale now in NES classifieds.

Damn, that's a shame. In your situation, I think you should DEFINITELY shoot the pistol before buying another one. Did you ever find out if the 92 INOX Compact is Mass-approved?

If the 92 I-C is Mass-ok, I'd be happy to let you shoot mine if you let me try the PPK before you sell it [smile]

I carry a p229 and have for over 3 years. I did recently grind down the hammer spur, and I am glad I did it.

Shot around 50 rounds through it. Just horrible for me. That was a week ago and my thumb is still sore. I just sold it last night to a NESer in my town. Bought a Kahr P9. Really comfortable in my hand. Hope to get out tomorrow after the snow and shoot it at the range for the first time.

The SIG P232 just doesn't make any sense to me. It is a .380 that is bigger than my 9mm PM9. No thanks.

The SIG P239 is a single stack 9mm, but it still quite large for the capacity. The Kahr K9 is much smaller, but then you don't want a striker fired gun.

The S&W 3913/3953 is an option. You'll need to find a used one. I'm not a fan of slide mounted safeties so I'd prefer the DAO 3953, but those are harder to find than the 3913.

ETA: there is a 3953 on gunbroker: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=391501074
the SIG 239 and the sw3913 are virtually identical in size and shape.
